Had an idea for Jaaks, but they turned me down :(

Recommended Posts

I was looking at the 10 in 1 I had bought, and I thought, "these would make great joysticks for the 7800 (with the two buttons in front)..." So I called them, asking if they would sell me and non-functioning units (thinking I would re-wire them).

They told me no, they are not allowed to sell them. :(

Why would that be? They would be making money on items that don't work... I don't get it

There is a number of reasons that OEM's will not sell equipment that is known to be defective. The most important is that they could be liable if you suffered any type of injury from using their product in the condition that it was sold to you. Another is that it's just not good business to sell off your failures. And another is that it makes you less likely to buy a regular piece of equipment. There are some other reasons...but I can't think right now.

Because they can reuse defective shells and PCB's easy... why sell them off. If the whole thing is defective because of a bad chip or wire, no reason to junk the whole thing...

It is also a tax write off. If they sold it to you, they would have to claim it. I think they are required to destroy them, too.

how expensive are they? couldn't you just buy another one and re-wire taht one? doesn't seem to be too big of a problem to me *shrugs*

What you do with it after you purchased it is not their concern...they just won't sell it that way.
