Good deal on Portal 2

Recommended Posts

EDIT: FUCK! That doesn't work! I must have first registered the game by playing on PS3 then linking the accounts!

Portal 2 for PC costs $49.99. For the PS3 it's $59.99, but you get a free downloadable copy for PC from Steam!!

You can then turn around and trade the PS3 version back in to GameStop for $24 in credit like I am doing to get another game, or you could just sell it online to lessen the cost you paid.

There is a still a deal on Amazon where if you buy the game you get $5 off and a $20 credit towards your next Amazon purchase. After seeing the review on IGN (9.5) this is exactly what I did.

Note : Today 4/19 is the last day you can get the $20 credit.

My "To play" pile grew by leaps this week. I think I bought 4 new games.

Where is the $20 credit Amazon deal? I sure don't see it anywhere on the Amazon Portal 2 pages, but I do see lots of mentions of it all over the internet.

Get a $20 Amazon.com Credit

Order Portal 2 on or before 4/19/2011 for PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360 and receive $5 off the original price of $59.99 as well as $20 in promotional credit toward the purchase of items shipped and sold by Amazon.com (certain exclusions apply, including Kindle books, MP3s, and video rentals and downloads). The promotional credit will be added directly to your Amazon.com account within two days after your order ships.

Not sure why you are not seeing it. It say it in a big box on the main page. Are you in the US? Might be a US only thing. Also it's only for the 360 or PS3 versions. If you are on the PC version, then that explains it as well.

This one is getting hammered on metacritic.

Seems like most people (consumers) are complaining about the $59 price tag. They say there is more content but not enough to justify that high of a price. That's why I wasn't very interested in it. I knew the price would eventually and probably quickly drop to about the $39.99 range. The way I see it, with the $5 off and the $20 credit (which I know I'll use quickly) I'm snagging it for about $35. Probably about $5 less than what it should have been released for.

The critic reviews are off the charts. On metacritic it's like a 98!!

I tend to not go by what professional critics think so I'm looking forward to checking this out for myself. I loved the first one.

Ah, okay, I was looking at the PC/Mac version, that's why I wasn't seeing it. I don't own any new consoles. Thanks for the info. I'm going to just wait until it drops in price. Steam always has great deals occasionally, and I'm sure it won't be long until they have a special on it.

Mine crashed through the mail box Tuesday. Yay. And I still haven't played it. Boo.
