Interest check: bunches of Atari 8-bit mags in Seattle

Recommended Posts

*updated*

Haven't had any luck finding a local buyer for the lot, so I'm entertaining offers for individual issues. A few have already gone and have been removed from the list.

*updated*

I recently bought out a local collector and ended up with two big boxes full of (mostly) Atari 8-bit mags including a couple first issues. They were unfortunately stored in a garage for years and some of them drew damp, resulting in covers stuck together and some staining. A few have worn, missing, or torn covers, etc. None are what I would call collector-quality though many of them are not too bad.

I couldn't find any info on values, so I'm open to offers. My post office doesn't allow magazines, even old ones, to ship media mail so I'm hoping someone from the Seattle area will go for the whole lot.

Analog: 40 issues total, earliest is #8, rest are from #19-#78

Antic: 78 total (including a half dozen or so dupes) ranging from Vol 1 #5 thru v9#2

Hi-Res: 2 total: Issues #1 & #3

Atari Explorer: 16 total, from Feb 85 thru Jan 93

Atari Interface: 3 total (including 1 duplicate) from v4 (1992)

Current Notes: 1 total (v12#6)

Puget Sound Atari Newsletter (a local magazine/thick newsletter): 43 issues total

Compute!: 1 total (June 1981)

also 2 old catalogs: Best Electronics #9 (1992), American Techna-Vision (undated)

I can't believe they wont let you mail magazines as media mail... thats ridonculous

It's because of the advertising. Media mail can't contain advertising and they don't seem to care that the ads are all for stuff you can no longer buy from companies that no longer exist. I've actually had a couple sets of mags that I tried sending that way opened and returned to me.

Weird, I've sent probably ten packages of magazines in the last three years and not had an issue. I find it bizzare that some post offices are ok with it and others are not.

Enforcement is definitely inconsistent but I got a message once from someone in the postmaster general's office verifying that magazines are a no-no in media mail. Still didn't stop the ebay buyer from leaving me bad feedback over "excessive" shipping charges. It's for this very reason, plus ebay's new tax on shipping, that I won't sell magazines there anymore.

C'mon Seattle Atari fans - where else you gonna find 150+ magazines devoted to your favorite computers???

I'll say! The last 1050 I got from Ebay (with power supply) came Media Mail.
