Schizophretard
I hope it is as good as everyone says. It would be nice not to have to dig through my totes for my games. Why is it so hard to find? It seems like it would be in the AA store or something. The first time I heard about it was in this forum. It seems hidden. There should at least be a pinned thread with the link for purchase. Maybe even a pinned thread in the market place too. In one of the threads I read something about dumping carts. I think that would be a good upgrade. I would like to see Atarimania full of smiley faces.
Mirage
It has it's own entire subforum in the 2600 forum. (The one you just posted in!) (I agree though, a pinned thread in 2600 forum sounds like a good idea). But yes, it's as good as everyone says. Actually, it's better than even that, because it's about impossible to put something so cool into words. +Random Terrain
I put this on some of the pages of my web site to help promote the Harmony cart: Seems like other Atari-related web sites could do the same. (You'll have to click on the image if you want to see it animate.) Edited April 26, 2011 by Random Terrain

Call the thread Purchase the 2600 multi-cart called the Harmony Cart or something like that. Within the thread have a description of it and a link to http://harmony.atariage.com/? I had to look through threads in here to find the link. There should be no looking. It should be on top. My other suggestion was the same thing but in the market place but I agree with putting it in the 2600 forum. Also, I think all owners should put the link in their signatures so whenever they bring it up to a noob they can tell them to click the link in their signature. atarigal
I'm going to agree with the sentiment of this thread. For a newbie, the info on Harmony cart is kind of hard to find, and the actual harmony cart page (http://harmony.atariage.com/?) is not that great either as it's just a page of links to other pages. I was a bit confused the first time I saw it. At the very least, the Harmony cart web page could be updated to include a little info about what the cart actually is, rather than having to click through all the links. I would lose/reduce the giant unclickable jpeg too, but that's just from a design perspective.

atarigal
Check out this link for batari Basic users: www.randomterrain.com/atari-2600-memories-batari-basic-commands.html#harmony Do you think that says enough about it? I think that's a great explanation of what Harmony can do for game developers. For dummies like me who just buy the games to play, the text on the main harmony page need not be more than a few sentences. Something like "The Harmony Cartridge is a simple, affordable way to play downloaded game ROMs for the Atari 2600 on your actual console, rather than in a PC/Mac emulator. You insert the Harmony cartridge into your console the same way you would an ordinary Atari game cart. Harmony Cartridge can store the entire available library of Atari game ROMs on one SD card." Obviously that wording could be cleaned up, but you get the gist of it.

How I would clean it up is say,"affordable way to play your backup game ROMs," instead of ,"affordable way to play downloaded game ROMs". It would sound less arg! +Random Terrain
If you guys want, I can use your combined description and make a little Harmony cart page on my web site that links to the official order page. I can add that description, plus anything else you think should be on there for people who've never heard of the cart. After it's all fixed up, if batari likes it, maybe he'll copy it and use it on the official page.

Schizophretard
I got it today, loaded Rom's collection, and I'm impressed. The only problem I've noticed is my 7800 isn't opening the dust protector. I have to put in a small screw driver, hold it open, and put it on at an angle. It isn't that big of a problem though since once it is in there isn't much need to take it out.
+Random Terrain
That would be cool. I'll be making a test page pretty soon. If anybody has more text to add about how great the Harmony cart is (why someone would want to buy one, how easy it is to use, and all that good stuff), please post it here. Thanks. dwane413
I'll be making a test page pretty soon. Here's the first draft: www.randomterrain.com/atari-2600-memories-harmony-cartridge.html Does anything need to be added or changed? Random Terrain, that looks nice. The only thing I noticed was that there is no link to the Harmony cart home page which has the PDF file. At the very least, the Harmony cart web page could be updated to include a little info about what the cart actually is, rather than having to click through all the links. The Harmony Cartridge online manual has that info in PDF format. I had been wanting a Cuttle Cart for a few years.... So it didn't take a fancy page to convince me I wanted one, but I guess for a newbie or for someone just casually interested (who would be less motivated to download a manual), it would be nice to have more info on the page. Thanks. I changed the imaged back to linking to the main page. I'm also working on something else to add to the page. I hope to be done later tonight. atarigal
That looks awesome, RT! I wish I'd had that page to look at instead of having to figure it all out from cryptic mentions on AA. And dwane, I wasn't talking about anything fancy, but about a little basic info beyond "click these links to download the manual." Even reading the manual [here I will refrain from comments on PDF format] is a little confusing going into it cold, since the manual is for someone who's already bought the product. As a total newbie I didn't quite get at first what the Harmony Cart actually DID, and the page for it (which isn't that easy to find) didn't help much. For what it's worth, I have the same trouble on my cartridge-modded FlashBack 2. Again, not the end of the world, but it shows that the dust protector hinge issue is not limitted to 7800's. +Random Terrain
I had to sleep for a while, so it took longer than I thought it would, but here's the second draft with an HTML version of the Harmony Cartridge PDF Manual: www.randomterrain.com/atari-2600-memories-harmony-cartridge.html If you visited the page before, please refresh/reload the page so you'll be using the latest version of the style sheet. Thanks.
dwane413
Very nice. I didn't re-read through all the manual tonight, but it looks good. The manual mentions DriveSort, but I don't think there is a link to it. I thought a link might be helpful. One thing that the Harmony cart can do that isn't mentioned is using it to dump ROMs, but since that is an advanced feature that requires extra homemade cables, it might be beyond the scope of your page. I haven't tried making a cable to do that yet, but it sounds like something I'd like to be able to do.
