Please tell me eBay does something about this!

Recommended Posts

So I'm 20 min from some amazing deals on some games. I mean I had bid $10 on each lot and was winning at $1.04 with 20 min left on the auction there is no way $10 should have one but its an auction. No reserve, not even a BIN. Suddenly I get an email that tells me about my bid cancellation. Ummm... I didn't cancel my bid. So I look more into this and the seller removed the items. I swear, if they are relisted I might blow my top. I really hope they get charged something extra to take an auction down like that. What a great way to rip people off. List the item, if you don't make a pile of cash on it take it down and try again later. That isn't what an auction is supposed to be like.

Do you have a link so we can avoid this seller?

....3 days later and I would guess the answer to my question is no. But thanks for asking.

I thought a seller couldn't cancel an auction with less than 12 hours left which had bids on it?

They can cancel the bids and then there are no bids so it should let you end auction. Haven't tried but that should work.

I've had that happen three or four times in the last couple of years... It's stupid, but seemingly allowed by Ebays rules...

If the seller relists with the same low starting price, bid $100 on it. If it goes without any other bidders and seller cancels it, he'll cry when he sees he cancelled a large bid.

Bad idea - unless you understand the inner workings and psychology of eBay, it's better to either bid to win, or forefit. Believe me, It's a painful game to play - some light reading on the subject and my AtariAge / eBay experience HERE

I'm just done with eBay. If someone here posts a sale there I might look into it, but this is just stupid. There is no reason at this point for me to have to deal with this so I just wont. Its a shame, and eBay would be forced to fix it if it wasn't for all the people that let this shit slide too often.

This could all be resolved if I was allowed to leave him feedback. They should add a way to leave a mark against the seller that says he cancelled an auction. This way people would know when sellers do this. If a seller does it enough they wont get many bids anymore.
