SMURF: RESCUE IN GARGAMEL'S CASTLE - HIGH SCORE/THREE INITIALS GLITCH

Is anyone here able to solve the mystery of declaring what these "initials" are that you get when you execute this glitch?

To do the glitch, you take Smurf to the end of the first screen and into the second, then go back and forth between the two screens until the game freezes. On Skill 3, you get what looks like two initials replacing the lives indicator status; but on Skill 4, doing the same trick yields what looks like three initials plus a high score of 919,500 points. The bad news on either of these glitches, it will cause the game to reset when using the ADAMEm emulator. What do I do to prevent the ROM from resetting on ADAMEm?

Don't shift back and forth like that.

While it is slightly interesting. I don't see any reason to do this.

I'm not sure at all, but I think that part of the answer to avoid the reset and get the same result with the emulator has to do with the difference between the emulator and the real system on what they do while "reading/executing" the "no data" at the highest addressable memory space where there is no more game cartridge data.

@newcoleco

The author of these glitches performed this on a real ColecoVision. However, I still would like to know what those "initials" are???

The glitches are fine and all but don't compare to Smurfette going topless!! :) Now that was a great glitch!

Somehow I missed that scene.

Somehow I missed that scene.

It's in Smurf Challenge, the recently-released homebrew CV game. :)

It;s in Smurf Challenge? I haven;t played that one.

The topless Smufette is from the original Smurf game... it was all the rage back in 1983 or whenever it was. lol Back then there were no online places to find 'easter eggs' or 'glitches'. It was all schoolyard talk. lol

How did the topless Smurfette get into the new game? Interesting!

If there is a topless Smurfette in the original and anyone knows how to trigger it please post!

Isn't it just the thing where you walk offscreen to the left, and one of the sprites momentarily gets nixed, causing it to look like part of her dress (and the whites of her eyes!) have disappeared?

I think so. Too many sprites can never happen on the CV.

In the original game, it's a glitch. In Youki's game, it's a feature.

If you want to see the glitch and you are more than 18, click here. :D

How to trigger the easter egg in Smurf Challenge?

You can only get the trick by reading Revival

I don't think Youki wants that. He gave the 'exclusivity' to the magazine. The best would be to ask him, but he's on an holiday trip for now...

Ok, I'll ask Youki and Cyril if they can tell me how to trigger it

I know what the easter egg is, but I don't know how to trigger it...
