Chris Cracknells composite mod help

So the easiest looking video mod (by far) is Chris Cracknell's. All you have to do is wire up the center tap of an RCA connector to the luma and chroma signals. I did this, and my HDTV switches from "no signal" to "480i" mode, but there is just a black screen.

 

I tried on my SDTV, and it just stays at a blank blue screen with no changes.

 

I have triple checked my wiring and it all seems to be correct.

 

Can anyone point me to a hidden step somewhere, or ideas on what to try?

I'd try something other than the Chris Cracknell "mod" because there are so many things wrong with it, you are much better off with RF.

 

At the very least, consider one of the BenHeck mods (which still leave something to be desired, but usually better than RF.)

Do you know of a mirror to his original guide? all I can find is his rev2. I have everything i need for his first one, but not his second.

I would try Ben Heck's simple mod instead, its not perfect but works way better than the one your trying:
