Sorry for the late reply happy dude. The case is not part of a suitecase. It is made of black plastic, with a transluscent smoke-coloured top. It resembles tape cases of the time.

Finally got my hands on a sega master system 1, Ive modded it to run at 60Hz full screen. It is just soooo much better this way, Highly recommended to all you PAL ppl.

Not at all video game related but today I found something at a thrift shop

that I just had to share. I found eight, mint condition, unused... drum

roll please, Remington clay pigeons. You know, the clay discs used for

skeet shooting. But what made this find so amusing is that they were

priced at 50 cents each. Clearly the proprietors have no idea what these

things are because clay pigeons usually sell for $5.99 for a case of

several hundred. They probably thought they had a complete set of

some fine porcelain dishes or something.

 

I'm not trying to insult these people because in order to price everything

fairly at a thrift shop you'd have to be an expert on EVERYTHING. But if

they can be this far off with clay pigeons (an everyday object in rural

America) I can now understand how they can sometimes charge $5 for

a Combat cartridge and then have Starpath games mixed in with Barry

Manilow cassettes for 10 cents each.

Got 3 CV games for $6 today: Congo Bongo, Q*Bert, and Temple of Aphsai. Having just checked my cart list, I know now that I'll be keeping 2 of the 3.

Its one of those very easy mods which may take 10 minutes, It is definately time well spent. The guides on the net are for the 1987 motherboard. If an when you decide to do it, and if you have a rev 2 or rev 3 i'll msg you the correct jumper pads as they are not marked NTSC/PAL. I swear the SMS is at the top of my list now.

It's funny how my local Goodwill store will have NOTHING for long periods of time, and then they'll get a bunch of pretty cool stuff in all at once!

 

About 3 years ago, I'd been going in every week, or so......nothing, nothing, nothing......then one day, out of the blue, a "Frogs and Flies" in box with manual (the box is in great shape). Now, that's not an incredible rare game, but for a city the size of the one I live in.....it's a pretty decent find....for $2 !!

2 first ed. Sega Genesis consoles with a '94 Madden NFL game (no hook-ups)-$4 for all. I think I have some extra hook-ups somewhere.

 

1 500xj joystick- $1

 

1 Fighter Stick SG-6 large arcade controller-$3

 

1 genesis controller- $1.50

 

A 1977 Sears Telegames Pinball/Breakaway system in MINT condition without box or power cord. I opened up the battery compartment and it had never been used, spotless! I guess I need to pick up a bunch of batteries to try it out. I was going to pass on it, but I couldnt resist the "mfg. by ATARI, Sunnyvale, CA." label and the $2.50 price tag.

 

Oh, and I picked up the MadCatz foot pedals that go to the steering wheel I got last week for $3.

 

I passed on a Commodore 64 with hook-ups, used but in original box for $5, as well as 2 Commodore Vic 20's in box for $5 each.

Today I brought home a N64 w/ all hookups and 2 like new controllers.

I was used to my shitty controller and these things are like heaven.

Only problem is I have to get used to the sensitivity. My gameplay is so

erattic due to having to be violent with my original controller to do anything

 

Is AU$40 (US$26.12) a good price for this lot ?

Today at Gamers they had a bunch of s#%t in boxes.

 

No, I mean literally. I got a report from my wife that they had Atari boxed games, but when I went to take a look nearly every one looked like it had been sitting in a box in a dirty garage under a leaky pipe. I was actually somewhat stunned at the audacity of putting $2 price tags on all of them, but I found the two least sh#%ty of the bunch (a Street Racer and a Cosmic Ark, both complete) and called it a day. If anybody wants the rest, try and talk them down to 50 cents or a quarter. They're BAD. Some were obviously stuck together by water damage and the front of one box peeled off onto the back of another. It's almost heartbreaking.

This is a fairly good price, considering Myer/Grace Bro's was selling them for brand new last year for about $49.

I picked up Myer Borragoon's last four N64s for A$69 each over a year ago. I've shifted a couple.

 

Today I passed on two Atari ST titles (one looked like a strip poker game !?) and Frogger for the 2600, but I did get about 30 video games magazines from the late 80s, early 90s, A$10 the lot.

 

My mother added another Monopoly game to her collection. A Pokemon version slightly different from the one she already had.

1 VCD player which looks like a psx, It works very well and has a remote etc,, However its for china and wants 220v, It got very hot after 30mins of 240v. Has anyone heard of a stepdown from 240v to 220v??

At the flea market on Saturday a labeless Colecovision Xonox cart turned out to be Slurpy, so that was a nice find.

As a buyer I got in and out without being rained on, but numbers were way down. Most interesting thing I spotted was a boxed Barcode Battlers game. I only picked up a soft plastic space shuttle.

I Slept in this morning (Til 10am), so I didn't bother going their. I've heard of that Barcode Battler thing, shame the system wasn't their. I've heard you can scan a barcode into the system and it starts a game. It was sunny when I got up, but It poured down til about 7am here and I knew that their wouldn't be many people their.

Not much has been out there lately, but I found a couple of interesting things:

 

Zaxxon Board Game complete...box is worn, but the game is in good condition

 

A Nordictrack SNES/Genesis controller. It apparently fits onto the ski machine and ties into the games. I haven't really looked at it to figure it out (and don't have a ski machine) but it was different and only $6.

 

I missed a SNES boxed for $15 or so due to a lack of cash on the day I first saw it.

I still have one, which is why I didn't bother with this one. I recently picked-up a new "scannerz" (or similar) barcode-based game. It's awful, don't waste your money.

Walked in to Goodwill. I saw 2 games I didnt have. Plunked down 4 bucks, and walked out with Millipede for 2600, and Gaunlet by Tengen for NES.

 

Smiled the whole drive home.

I haven't had this happen to me too much but I hear it's pretty common, I found all the accesories/hookups and a few games for a Sega Master System at a thrift store but no console!

 

But I ended up happy, for $6 I got a SMS pad, a SMS control stick, and a SMS light gun
