Scumdogg #4102 Posted April 21, 2007 That's a really good deal for a Dreamcast, especially with all those peripherals. I'm a huge Dreamcast fan who was lucky enough to buy almost everything i needed during the death throes of the system, but it has become nearly impossible in the last two years or so to find anything for it. Great find! Thanks. The only thing it was missing was the A/V cable. Unfortunately I didn't realize it until after I bought it. It also came with an extension controller cable. I BIN'ed a A/V cable from eBay and hopefully it will arrive within the next few days. It powers up and reads the CD, but until the cable arrives I have no clue what is being displayed. Have you tried any of the emulators that run on the Dreamcast? Also how do you tell when the system was made? I use NesterDC a lot and DreamSNES to a lesser extent. NesterDC works great, saves to VMU easily, making it a great replacement for dead-battery NES games. DreamSNES is cool, but most games won't run at a proper framerate. I find it's best to just use it for emulating systems of NES age or older. As far as telling when it was made, i...don't know. I've never actually bought a used one, so i haven't had to check. My original's still working after 7 years.

A.J. Franzman #4104 Posted April 21, 2007 Purchased from a local thrift store yesterday: $40 Sega Dreamcast base unit 4 regular controllers Fishing rod controller Light gun Power cord Sega Bass Fishing 2 CD inside of the unit 1 'rumble' pack 1 memory card <snip> While the price of the base unit may seem like a lot to some, it's the only one I've seen in the wild in many years. I see Dreamcasts in thrifts fairly often, but almost never anything more than the bare console. Most thrift employees around here are apparently not smart enough to realize that the cables, power supplies, etc. that come in with the consoles need to be bagged or taped with them for the consoles to sell at anything like a decent price. kevincal #4110 Posted April 22, 2007 Nice as well. I know those model 1 Sega CD's are fairly sought-after...Don't they get about $25-40 alone on eBay? CGQuarterly #4111 Posted April 22, 2007 I'm not sure what they go for on eBay. I'll be selling the model 2 that it is replacing, and I know they don't go for much. I thought $25 was pushing it since Genesis consoles are pretty worthless (a shame, as the Genesis is one of my favorites), but the SCD unit is in almost mint condition, and since I prefer the model 1 Genesis, the model 1 SCD was what I wanted. My model 2 is pretty nice, since I even have the little extender piece for using it with a Genesis I. I might actually sell that piece here separately so that it goes to a good home, since I believe that piece is hard to come by. Nice as well. BassGuitari #4112 Posted April 22, 2007 (edited) Today, I got a Timex Sinclair 1000 w/ manual and F-Zero (Snes) for $10 at Salvation Army today. Not an amazing, out of this world deal, but a fair price, I think. And T/S 1000s are fairly unusual, so that's neat. The thing is damn tiny! I understand these were more common/popular in the UK...are there any cool games I should look for? Or are they all BASIC? Also, half the "keyboard" doesn't work, but I suspect taking it apart and cleaning it will fix that. Strange that it doesn't even have a power switch. PressureCooker2600 #4114 Posted April 22, 2007 the dreamcast is SOOOOO overlooked. i thought its memory card was the coolest and i always hoped some other company would take advantage of it. who can beat playing even more mini-games on a memory card. and most games had their own display. some obligatory games: Power Stone series (PLEASE MAKE ANOTHER ONE CAPCOM), Marvel vs. Capcom 2, Sonic, Tony Hawk 2, House of the Dead 2, RE: Code Veronica
opeygon #4115 Posted April 22, 2007 Was out hunting with a friend and we found a huge lot of atari 2600 games unexpectedly. I got the following titles all for $1 each: indy 500 tennis (activision) swordquest earthworld adventure mrs. pacman maze craze circus (sears tele games text label) video olympics ( text label) realsports boxing outlaw (text label) haunted house space war (text label) donkey kong defender (sears telegames picture label) video pinball towering inferno realsports football missle command (sears telegames text label) riddle of the sphinx cosmic arc Tested all and everything works great. No rare titles but still a good find in my mind. I think the telegames missle command is kinda cool. Also was pretty stoked to get video pinball back after nearly twenty years. I love that game! Keeping that one for my personal collection. On a side note, I saw a four switch woody shrinkwrapped with one controller, power supply and rf switch for $75. The price was way high considering it still looked kinda dirty and the rf box had tv and game written in black sharpie on it. Got a kick out this and will go back next week to see if anybody bought it. Also, saw four or five intellivision games shrinkwrapped in the box for $2 bucks each. Got me thinking of collecting intellivision now too!!! Gonna have to find a good emulator first though. Oh god, I can't afford to collect yet another game system! I must be stopped!!!
