Almost Rice #9276 Posted October 21, 2010 My oddball thrift find is some CDi games, they were in with music CDs so I go them for $2.00 each. Joker's Wild, Space Ace, and Escape from Cybercity. They also had a golf game but I only had $6 on me. Now to find a CDi unit... You know, I have a CDi I'm willing to part with (for a fair price.) Have several games and a gamepad for it. It also has the DVC installed so you can watch VCDs and play games that required the Digital Video Card for enhanced graphics. My thrift had a Magnavox cdi and probably some game but I did not pick them up because they were trashed. If I am not the first person to get at it, the other people tear them up. I have a pic of a laptop with all the key knocked off.
nightwheel #9277 Posted October 21, 2010 (edited) I went to my favorite local thrift store last Tuesday. And found some cool stuff. - I got load of Game Informers, EGM's, and Nintendo Powers for 10 cents each. I got eleven Magazines in total. - Medal of Honor: Frontline strategy guide for 50 cents. - A copy of King Kong vs. Godzilla on VHS for 10 cents. - Kazam on VHS for $1 - "Make your Own jet Plane" book for 50 cents. It appears to be a paper craft of a SR-71 Blackbird. And the book is all there. And out front of the store, they have a free box. And here's what I got from there. - A manual for the pc game "F-14 Fleet Defender". It's missing it's cover. - "Young Indiana Jones and the Ghostly Rider" Book. - The book "Bunnicula". I had a copy of this book when I was younger and I loved it. So I'm happy i have another copy now. - Warner Bros. Studio Store Catalog from Holiday 1996 - A Bionicle book. Still has it's trading card sides stickers. - "Kim Possible: Killigans's Island" Book - a 3.5 Floppy of Rescue Rover. - A TI-83 Guidebook - And a Norton Antivirus 2002 disk. I got "plans" for this disk There was a Power Puff Girls book in the free box. But I decided against it. Edited October 21, 2010 by nightwheel

rhindlethereddragon #9279 Posted October 23, 2010 (edited) Yesterday, I found FOUR very interesting Sega Genesis cartridges at the thrift store. Usually, I only find such things when I'm having a dream about finding video games. I think they were bootlegs, the labels had a "pastel" look to them, and while there were holes in the back of the games for 2 screws, there were none, the games just "snapped" together. The cartridges were also very "light" feeling. The cartridges were: Tora! Tora! Tora! (which actually contains the Mega-Drive version of FIRE SHARK in a Genesis case) Sega 32-in-1 cartridge (which seems to be a collection of hacks of just 3 games: FLICKY, REVENGE OF SHINOBI and RAMBO III) Side Pockets (Megadrive version of Side Pockets in a Genesis case) Afterburner II (Megadrive version of Afterburner II in a Genesis cartridge case) Haven't found anything this interesting in a long while, thought I'd share. dooglehead #9281 Posted October 23, 2010 I just bought a Kaypro II computer with all software and documentation from Craigslist for $25. It seems hard to determine the value of these because on ebay and other places, there are only overpriced BINs, but I think I got it for a good deal. Almost Rice #9284 Posted October 24, 2010 I picked up an Apple Mac 165C for $10. I was hoping to use the Classic Mac OS or maybe use the case for an future project. The system was $40 and I thought it was a bit much. I waited the 2 weeks it took for 2 markdowns, but it somehow moved from behind the counter to on the floor. The regular customers had probably a few days to the damage.

Almost Rice #9286 Posted October 25, 2010 Ouch what happened to it? Someone pressed on the center until the damage to the screen occurred. They also pulled up on the screen casing and laptop body thereby splitting them at the back. Looks like the system is only good for C64 DTV project now. It will probably cost to much to replace the screen.

It's too late for mine, I guess. My connector seems to be missing a couple of pins.

the-topdog #9293 Posted October 27, 2010 (edited) Picked up a CIB Sega Genesis and a CIB Sega CD for $60 today from a local classified. The lady was liquidating the things she got in her divorce. I had a Genesis but mine broke... I never had a Sega CD before, so this might be fun. Edited October 27, 2010 by the-topdog
SpendTooMuchOnAtari #9294 Posted October 29, 2010 I found a few things yesterday at a great price, especially since I used my frequent buyer points to get it all half off. $4 plus tax for the following: Wavebird Gamecube Controller N64 Expansion Pak (third-party) N64 Controller Pak (third-party) - I really needed one of these! 4Ks #9295 Posted October 30, 2010 I found Sega Genesis Quackshot and NBA Jam both complete at a Salvation Army. They had a lot of other stuff as well, but I didn't get anything but those two.
Blur2040 #9296 Posted October 30, 2010 (edited) Been a bit since I've posted a find...but then again, its been a bit since I've found anything... Got a Commodore 64 (CIB w/ manual, cards and power supply and RF cable) and a loose 1541 drive for $15. Guy told me it was working. Get it home, of course it doesn't work. "Out of memory Error in 0" comes up when you turn it on. Did some Googling, replaced a ram chip...and the C64 worked. 20 bucks later for some DSDD Floppies, an IEC cable, and some time to build a cable to hook the 1541 to my PC...And now I'm writing all sorts of Neato C64 games to disk ask I type this. YAY! Edited October 30, 2010 by Blur2040
MagitekAngel #9297 Posted October 31, 2010 Today I went to Value Village, and found a Sega Saturn with all hookups for 18 dollars, and a Yobo FC Game Console (Neo-fami) with both controllers and power, but no AV (no big, these things have RCA out anyway) for 8 dollars. Bitchin' and eggs. Both were dirty and ugly, but after two hours of Rubbing Alcohol, TLC, and testing, both are looking sharp and work flawlessly. Saturn needs a battery change, as predicted, but no big deal. The FC Game Console is nifty because I can't play Duck Hunt on my FC Twin, and even though the FC Game Console has a less accurate NOAC, it gets the job done. That and it's so small! Also, I have to say, this is the first famiclone I have ever encountered where I was satisfied with the pack-in controllers.
nightwheel #9298 Posted October 31, 2010 (edited) I think I scored well today. Thanks to Freecycle, I got my self a Vtech Laser 128EX. And I found a Radio Shack TRS-80 with manual. From a local classifieds site for $5! With the Following: Magnavox RGB monitor, Manual, Laser Branded Mouse, external Laser Floppy drive, loads of software including GEOS, and a Epson printerr. All for free! Nice scores! Laser 128EX and the Magnovox RGB for free is awesome. I wish the FreeCycle in Houston would have something like that. Here is what I picked up at the Family Thrift today. GBA with rechargeable battery for $6. I also got a palm with symbol reader for $4. I need a docking port for it now. It does not look like a palm standard one.
