Asaki
There's a newish place near me called something something Estate Sales, it's a little bit fancier and a bit more random than your usual thrift...anyway, right after we left the guy locked up, even though it was 30-45 minutes until the posted closing time... MagnaFarce
I've had some good finds recently at my flea market and at a thrift store in Minnesota while I was visiting. Sony Mavica FD200 Floppy Disc Camera [2002] - $15 I actually bought this on Ebay because someone on Atariage had a post about theirs and it interested me enough to actually buy one immediately instead of just keeping my eye open for one. I got it complete with the box, all the documentation, and a battery charger. The battery I got was dead, but the seller is sending me a new one. On a related note, I got some floppies on Craigslist from an "socialist, anarchist, communist" lesbian, which was interesting. Cassette to 8-Track Adaptor [1975?] - $2 Between my friend and I we have four 8-track players, none of which work. Still, I couldn't pass up this adaptor. I had no idea these existed, though it makes sense that they do. Nishika N8000 (3D 35mm camera) [1989] - $5 I'll probably hack this thing and see what I can make it into. I really don't care much for 3D and there's so many of these cameras around that I don't mind accidentally ruining the thing in the process. It'll be a fun new project. 3M Stocks & Bonds Board Game [1964] - $1 I have no idea how this game plays, but it was a dollar and had everything in the box except the piece of chalk. I mostly got this so my friend can decorate his room with it because he really digs displaying old things from the sixties and seventies. On top of all that I was able to find a few groovy bell bottoms and turtlenecks while in Minnesota. AtariLeaf
Not exactly a thrift find but I got my Coleco Gemini repaired at a local game store and it just cost me some trade ins (just a solder repair on the joystick ports) and while there, I picked up a loose Lock N Chase for the Gameboy. +Darrin9999
Found some more at the same thrift shop. All for $40. also saw a Sega Genesis 2 model without p.s. for 12.99 I passed on it.
Asaki
I found Onimusha Warlords, PS2, $5. I don't know much about it, but I think I watched my friend play one of them once and it looked neat. I also liked the GBA game, even though I kind of don't know what's going on sometimes =) Also found Unreal Championship for XBox, $3. SRGilbert
So far, this year has been really weak. Now, I know that if you search through my posts in this thread, I'll say that over and over, and then I find something cool. That said, it's still been a weak year for game finds. So much so, that I haven't bothered to post. That's not to say I haven't found anything, so here is a wrap up of the past few months. Quite a few CD's, which I like to grab cheap (for my library, not to resell), as long as they are in good shape, and are complete. Anything decent a dollar or under, and I'll grab it. The highlight was a copy of Jackson Brown's Running on Empty Expanded Edition. It's an OOP 2 disc set, and the second disc is a hi-res multi-channel DVD-Audio disc, which I collect, and it's awesome! It's a $20-50 set all day long, but I got it for a quarter! Another odd CD I found today was a strange collaboration between Weird Al and composer Wendy Carlos doing a rendition of Peter and the Wolf. Everyone knows Al, but Wendy you might know as the composer of the electronic score for Tron. Wendy (well Walter Carlos at the time) was also an important person in the dawn of electronic music. Well worth looking into! Game wise, the only worthwhile bargains I've picked were a big bag o' 12 SNES games at a thrift for $6.06, and last weekend a nice SNES set with 8 games for only $2! It came with a copy of Uniracers too, which sounds fun so I'll keep it. The rest will get bundled together and off to Craigslist for a tidy profit. The most unusual find so far was at a Goodwill today. Walking around, I see this big thing on a table, and I recognized it immediately as I use one like it a my job sometimes. It's a massive 40" table top shrink wrapper. It was a little dirty, but it seemed to be in good shape. I look at the tag, it was only $20! A quick search on my phone, and it turns out this exact thing sells new for over $600 bucks. Tossed it in a cart and found an outlet to test it, it works! I even came with a partial roll of 36" wrap, which itself is pretty damn expensive. Now I just have to figure out what to do with it. I cleaned it up, and it looks like it's brand new. I may offer it to my boss at the print shop since we don't have one nearly that big and see if he will buy it (at a considerable profit to me of course.) I may put it on Craigslist. Or most likely I'll keep it for a while. I'm planning on stepping up my selling (I might do some through a local place on consignment) and it would be handy to use to bundle stuff together. the.golden.ax
Had a great day with the kids. No major treasures but a few fun things. Goodwills were 50% off today so we started local then tried to find the one supposedly a 17 minute drive away. We got outside of town and stopped for gas. The car wouldn't start again and we got a jump start from a friendly dude that was also getting some gas. Went back to town and wasted an hour verifying my battery has some cells that were dead, buying then installing a new one. Got back on the road at noon, got totally lost in a state park. Saw natural wonders I'd never known about (mountains, breathtaking gorges, rivers, lakes...extremely rural... ) Crossed a single lane bridge that was several hundred feet high (single lane, under construction... yup, one car goes one direction, and the rest of the traffic waits) was rather nerve wracking. Never did find that thrift store. Made it to another Goodwill that I'd been to a few days earlier. By the end we did about 200 miles, got home at 8pm. The kids had lots of fun.
GideonsDad
A couple of weeks ago my wife, our three children, and I were shopping at a Goodwill in Plant City, FL. I walked right by a bin containing a Sega Genesis (Model 2) and a "side mounting" Sega CD in one bag in the bin and in the other bag there were a ton of Sega CD and Genesis games (someone threw a Beyblade GBA game in there too). My wife is the one who found this so all credit goes to her. The tag on the bag read $65, it did not look like a Goodwill price tag so my wife asked the cashier who then called "the back" and was told to sell the whole lot for $20! Again, all credit goes to my wife. It needs a little TLC and the carts all require cleaning otherwise it was a great find! I played Golden Axe for the first time with my 5 year old son, Gideon, and he just thought it was great. I will try to list the games I got with the lot when I have them in fromt of me, maybe even take a few pictures.
Cebus Capucinis
Wait, your son's name is Gideon? For some reason you gave me the distinct impression his name was Ralph.

(Gideon Thunderhead) ...but seriously... I can't think of a finer game to play 2 players on a Genesis with one of the kids! Great story.
+thegoldenband
Some nice yard sale finds today, including a half-dozen GameCube games for $2-3 each; an unopened bottle of one of my favorite liqueurs (Chartreuse) for half off list; and a few PlayStation games (and some LPs and CDs) that I got for all of $1 each. That second group included a game I bought despite the fact that (a) I already own a CIB copy, and (b) it was just case and manual, and didn't include the disc. The plot was something about a caveman kid with pink hair fighting pigs... A pity I couldn't find the disc -- I looked everywhere for it, but I suspect it was long gone. Still, I actually have some interesting plans for that one, so if anyone needs it, stay tuned to the Marketplace!
d-tec
I just walked into goodwill on my lunch break but couldn't really find anything besides a gamecube with no cables what so ever I ended picking up for $2.99. the other day I checked out some goodwills and couldn't believe my eyes they were selling PSX for $28.....don't you think that's a little overpriced? boxpressed
Nice CRT score today. I've been keeping an eye out at my local thrifts and CL for a 13" Sony WEGA CRT. I've found other WEGAs, but the 13" model is a tough ticket. I need the CRTs to fit in some shelving in my home office. At my local Salvation Army today I picked up not one but two CRTs: a Toshiba 14" ($6) and a Panasonic 10" ($5). The Toshiba 14AF41 is fantastic and and a great substitute for the WEGA, One coaxial input, three composite inputs (including front), one S-Video input, and one component input (called "Color Stream"). Awesome connectivity. Missing the remote, but the universal works. The Panasonic is a great retro set. My family had one back in the day. Love the boxy look, and analog brightness, color, and tint rock!

Fushek
Local Goodwill finds ... nothing spectacular but at least something as Goodwill hasn't produced much lately. Crash Bandicoot Warped PS1 (no manual) - $2 Call of Duty (CIB) Gamecube - $3 Zelda Guide for the Phantom Hourglass - .50 And a really cool game called Battleground: Crossbows and Catapults - $

Asaki
Silver GameCube controller for $2; original gray DMG GameBoy, with Tetris and first party cable and soft case, for $4 B) Had some batteries in it that expired in 2005, a little bit of acid leaked out, but the thing still works fine. I forgot how hard these were to look at though, I'm going to have to try my hand at backlight modding it...
