Asaki #15676 Posted October 11, 2017 (edited) It's funny... so far, there's only a handful of 3DS games that have caught my eye. *browses collection for exclusives* Carts: Ever Oasis, Pilotwings, Mario Kart, Fantasy Life, Dragon Quest, Adventure Time, Animal Crossing, Code of Princess, Resident Evil Revelations, Kid Icarus, Steel Diver, Ghost Recon Shadow Wars, Luigi's Mansion, Tomodachi Life... eShop: Shantae, Mighty Switch Force, Gurumin 3D, Fairune, Gotta Protectors, The Keep, Dillon's Rolling Western, Rusty's Real Deal Baseball, Picross (but not the Pokemon one), The "Denpa" Men, Xeodrifter, Crimson Shroud, Attack of the Friday Monsters, Mighty Gunvolt, Steamworld Dig/Heist, Zombie Incident, Woah Dave... Nintendo 3D Classics and Sega 3D Classics Oh, I really liked that Castlevania game too, even though it got panned pretty hard. Yeah, there are a lot of cross-platform titles, but I find myself more likely to play them on the 3DS, just because it's so portable. I have yet to touch Terraria on the PC, but I've put quite a few hours into the 3DS version. There's also games like Shovel Knight, Shantae, and Steamworld Dig, which were designed for the 3DS, and then ported to other platforms. I'm not sure about the N64 Zelda remakes either...Ocarina of Time is probably my least favorite Zelda game, so I couldn't recommend it either way...I haven't started on the Majora's Mask remake yet, and I hadn't played the original much either. I think the best part is that it plays DS games. I have a huge library of those that I need to revisit. Just make sure to hold start or select while you boot them, or it'll stretch them out to fill the whole screen. They also have most of the DSi games available in the eShop. Also, I had an old R4 card for the DS. Do they make anything like that for the 3DS? If you mean for playing 3DS backups, yes they do, but I haven't tried it so I can't vouch. I imagine most people just use CFW these days. I bought an R4i RTS: it supports playing DS backups on a 3DS, and it supports SDHC (the old R4 does neither of these). TheTIGuy #15677 Posted October 11, 2017 I've got a few games (both cartridge and disc-based) from rental stores that have "Be Kind! Please Rewind!" stickers on them. I do too!
ave1 #15678 Posted October 12, 2017 (edited) My latest spectacular thrift store find is a Philips CDi console (model 220) for $12.99 with no hookups, controller, remote, or FMV video plug-in. Fortunately the exterior looks to be in very good condition. Just plugged it in a few minutes ago, and it's working with no signifivant problems I actually had a CDi game to play on it - Tetris - and it boots up just fine. But I have no way to play the game. Hope I can at least find a CDi remote or controller somewhere. Anyway- Yay it works! Edited October 12, 2017 by ave1
Grig #15679 Posted October 13, 2017 picked up these bad boys today - not games - but interesting nonetheless! Anybody else read these back in the day?
Asaki #15680 Posted October 13, 2017 Anybody else read these back in the day? I've read quite a few Choose-Your-Own-Adventures, and Twist-A-Plots, which I preferred...have a few of the D&D books. I haven't read any of those pictured, or own them, though. I also have some books of Fighting Fantasy, Grail Quest, Lone Wolf, Zork, Nintendo, GI Joe...and of course, I have the 5th Edition of their ancestor, Tunnels & Trolls.

Iwantgames:) #15684 Posted October 14, 2017 Wow I wouldn't see that as scamming. I didn't even notice till I was out the door. And I did spend over $50 on other items in there anyway I will make sure not to post anything in this thread again
TheTIGuy #15685 Posted October 14, 2017 Holy Sheet $12 for that thing where are you? But yeah they get it for free, its probably fine. (Employees do it all the time.)
Asaki #15686 Posted October 14, 2017 Holy Sheet $12 for that thing where are you? One thrift near my house sells them for $17-ish. I gambled on two of them, and they both had overheated themselves to death. At least the RAM and HDDs out of them were useful.

LOL "Goodwill International CEO, Jim Gibbons, made $729,000 in salary and deferred compensation" https://www.719woman.com/blog/do-goodwill-ceos-make-millions/ I think Jim Gibbons can afford the $12 loss.

icemanxp300 #15689 Posted October 14, 2017 Went out this morning to a garage sale and spent $100 on the bottom better games and games and watches. Then went back to verify for the guy if his Bucky O Hare was legit and he had marked the rest of the games for $1 each minus one I offered $5 before he did that lol. All in all I gave him $125 for everything. He wanted $150 for Bucky O Hare which is more than it is worth. I told him retail is $80 to $120 and he should expect to get at least $100, it had slight label lift on spine. I tried to get him to sell me it for $60 so I could resell it. I told him I wanted to resell it as I did the other games. He said he was thinking about just keeping it. I left him my number in case he changes his mind. I tested both game and watches and they work, Parachute is missing battery cover and DK jr needs the top plate glued back on. Other than that sweet score on those things. He only wanted $10 each for them so of course I gambled and hoped they worked They are worth about $75 each or so. Now I have like 7 G&W plus a few Russian type ones. He also had an action set box decent condition but no Styrofoam and the nes had no power or rf and was missing door and plastic was missing a piece that had chipped out of it. He marked it $100 while I was there and I told him it was never happening. I told him I was just being honest with him, he then dropped it to $60. It still will likely not sell in this area but at least it is reasonable now. He had a Gameboy that did not work and was missing the screen cover protector and 4 common games inside an oversized plastic hard Gameboy case. He is asking $20 which is reasonable. I tried to get him to take $10 but he wouldn't lol. I think he may call me after the sale is over and sell me some of the other stuff cheaper if it doesn't sell. We'll see. I slightly want that Gameboy because I have another I killed the screen on but the case is good. ...

Anybody else read these back in the day? 100_4469.JPG Oh yeah, I was all over CYOA books back when they were new. I got a gift set of four or five of them one Christmas, and was hooked on them for years afterward. I eventually sold mine off when I became fascinated with other shiny things. Once in a while I'll see them in the thrift stores and have half a mind to start collecting them again, but then I remind myself I don't have enough room for the collections I have already.
Eltigro #15693 Posted October 14, 2017 Shopgoodwill does have outrageuos shipping, but I've still been able to get some good deals there. Also, a heads up for anyone is in the South Eastern US, the Highway 80 Garage Sale is coming up. Last time I got a great deal on a big bunch of controllers and three 2600s for $5. I'm hoping for another haul this time.

And I did spend over $50 on other items in there anyway I will make sure not to post anything in this thread again Ignore him, it's their fault. You're just as likely to walk back in and get accused of stealing without a receipt too. If you're a regular there they get more than enough given it's all freely donated anyway. If you're being honest and didn't realize it until after that's really not your fault if you weren't going for a five finger discount. I know iceman and I don't always see eye to eye, but two things. 1) Yup, they can eat $12 just fine when much of what they bring in doesn't even go to the employees but the higher ups and self promotion so it'll be just fine. 2) Wow very nice pick up on that old NES stuff for sure but wowzers on the Game & Watch stuff. I wish I still had some of mine as I used to have over a dozen of them. Hope you get the jacked up Gameboy as anyone who can take 2 mangled systems and make a nice one is a good thing. Today I went light -- $3 on a 1990 Godzilla toy, $1 for a bagged up Japan sold pokemon center tsum tsum looking mini pikachu, 2 copies of Goldeneye 64 for $2/ea, and for 50 cents Full Tilt Pinball PC and amazingly works on PC if you dump the CD contents to the hard drive (16bit installer croaks in 64bit windows.)

At least the RAM and HDDs out of them were useful. I had one of those computers for college (lower specs but the same case). Using that machine was its own punishment. But yeah, if the cashier screwed up and undercharged you, it's their fault, not yours. I think I've had that happen to me a couple of times... when I see a discrepancy like that, I say "you sure that's right?" If they don't correct it, I assume either my math is off or they meant to do it.

icemanxp300 #15697 Posted October 15, 2017 Well I still made out but Megaman is not Megaman, it is excite bike. Owell what you going to do. Still prolly got $300 of stuff for $125. I guess the only upside is it is a round seal and I might get $15 for the case? I was hoping to find an excite bike in the other games but did not, I will def. test every one of these games before I do anything w/them. Maybe I can get lucky and find Megaman in a 720 or something....one can hope.
+GoldLeader #15698 Posted October 15, 2017 The thing is, on that laptop...If you notice they forgot to charge you it's one thing. If you didn't even figure it out til you got home then I wouldn't worry about it. Of course my family always gave stuff to Goodwill anyway...And I helped my friend move some nice furniture, which was given to them so...Yeah I've given them much more than $12 worth I'm sure.

So I first read that and thought, What the heck is a Cover Your Ass book? Then I realized that probably meant Choose Your Own Adventure haha... At work they used to say CYA or even CYOA (Cover Your Own Ass) meaning do your job right and have Team Leaders sign off on verification of your work etc., so that if there's a problem further down the chain, it doesn't come back to haunt you.
