A few find from car boot sales and the trash bin...

A weird electronic Sea Battle game. I've never seen any like that. And the generic name and the total lack of any manufacturer doesn't help. I think I mgiht have a chance to see who made it if I open it and check the electronics.

Cute and clean, but buggy. When you press the green or red key, it think you missclicked and you lose.

Who doesn't love a digital camera using floppies?

It was both or nothing. A cheap, useless box camera (but with the original notice!) and a very nice, middle-range French-made camera from the late 50's.

Saved from destruction! Dirty!

After a quick scrubbing :

Far from perfect, but better!

Given how dirty it was outside, I prefer to open it and clean the inside before I try booting it ;3

More evidence that my area has completely dried up: There's a local fall festival that happens every year the weekend after Labor Day, and the surrounding area is yard sale central. I've scored a ton of deals here in the past, so I perused about 15 different yard sales looking for games. Other than a couple terrible PS2 titles no one wants, I found an Atari 600XL that looks like it was found buried in the woods during an archaeological dig, complete with missing keys, case cracks, and zero cables/accessories and they wouldn't budge off of $20 because "it's vintage". Even though I want an old 8-bit (don't have one yet), I walked away from this one.

Blah.

I dont' know the Us market much, but I'm sure that for 20$ on AA you will get a loose but pristine 600XL.

Where I live (the southwest) $20 would barely get you 3 common Wii games let alone a 600XL.

Just a quick walking pic- this was marked $2, but they charged me $1 since it was a music CD & not a game.

I was gonna give it to some friends... then I looked it up on Ebay to see what the missing insert entailed. Yeah- they just get a copy now 😜

Was kind of a weird weekend of not really finding all that great amount of stuff but between my daughter and I it wasn't too bad for garage sales all over and a bit beyond what I'd have done normally.

Locally came up with little early on, a new amazon echo dot for $5 and for a dollar 3 old demo demo CDs of which 2 were pure crap but the other was Chex Quest in its little sleeve and oddly it's fun so that was worthy, also an Excalibur games stand up 5in1 deluxe casino for 50 cents.  That's why it wasn't great early on.

Going out of the way though it picked up.  Found this wide garage sale over a couple lawns for some adoption thing, my kid picked up 7 of a set of 8 (for $2) sealed up mini metallic puzzle things you usually see around Christmas at those mall kiosks, also found a couple cap'n underpants books for 2/ea too.  I ended up finding a really nice Gameboy Color Atomic Purple at that one for $2 and for another dollar Adventures of Baron Von Munchausen on bluray which is a score and fun.  The one that went out of the way for as I saw a Godzilla in the ad (was gone sadly) I got for $5/ea Gamecube Rebel Strike and Bloodrayne, and loose for $2/ea Mario Kart DS and New Super Mario DS(which was a replacement for my daughters lost copy from weeks ago so she freaked out happy glued to it for hours.)  I had the MKDS box/contents already so that fixed that up.

Also today she went to dump a bunch of finished/disliked games at the half price, they wanted to lowball her on Henry Hatsworth for DS for like a buck or less, I bought it off her instead so she could get this My Sims Kingdom DS game she wanted so that was nice too.  I've always been curious about that game but never got it.  Attached is a pic of most of the things from Saturday.

Good call I forgot about that.  I had this game back when it was new, and the on foot stages just were wonky and the speeder (like endor) stages were just infuriating so long term I dumped it. :)  I was a pretty well sucked in happy gamer with Bloodrayne taking out so many nazis the way she did.

Found all these at the local thrifts, the Pocket Simon has stuck buttons so hopefully it isn't too hard to fix. Never heard of Rogue Galaxy but it appears worth checking out from a google. Mario Kart was a mismatched game but works out since it can pair with my loose copy.

The baseball game from what I remember was supposedly very good if you wanted a non-serious Mario take on the sport better than some of the others.  I've had a couple of those Pocket Simon's and they do get stuck with age. If you tear it down carefully all the parts due to age are simple, large wires, and well huge.  Just clean everything very well and give it a shot, if that still sticks because it's not gunk, reheat/seat the solder points for the buttons and it'll be fine.

Got all this for around $15 on the weekend.  That is an old gijoe 1984 original missing just two small guns and driver in nice shape.  2 for the flashback and 5 on the Nintendo games in clearance.

Oddly the score maybe the pc game as it gets a strangely higher eBay value no idea why though and I’ve got the prequel too already.

At my haunts, it's been strange with the findings. When I was more active in collecting, pickings were dry. Now I really don't collect per se and am in the process of consolidating console titles and such as I don't get to play on the TV. Now lately it's like something is edging me towards handhelds as that's been my big scores.

Today was actually a day I could hit the thrifts at lunch time. At the local Goodwill I came across something I never played or even held before: a Microvision console! It's in great cosmetic shape with battery door and Block Buster. It still had an old Energizer 9 volt, which was NOT corroded! I popped in a fresh battery and plays like a champ. They asked $3 for it but I got it for free with a coupon I had.

After work I swung by two more thrifts in my home town. One I found nothing game wise but on the way out I saw a Pac-Man costume hanging on a rack! $5 later and I know what I'm wearing on Halloween. I need to find some dome shaped foam to spread out the top to give Pac his roundness.

Last place I picked up Super Mario Land loose for $4

Found a good amount of ps1 games today, hopefully Rascal is something interesting because it sure looks like it. This lot also reminds me how deep the ps1 library is, I have a decent amount but still not all the heavy hitters.

Finally was able to try and flea market again yesterday and this all was almost $50 for everything (other than the $2 I put into the plush and beetleborg car in the corner the day before at a thrift.

I'm fairly pleased and had a couple really nice keeper surprises as that DN3D disc has full DN1 and DN2 on there, and now on my PC.  And that Quake, it's that rare-ish Shareware early disc with the Trent Reznor tracks all versions since have lacked due to licensing garbage.  I'll keep those around for the added games on one, and the added music for the other since I have had both on GoG for a time.  Blade Runner lacks disc 1, but all around all those games for $10.

Another win, that beat up box is still sealed, got me a fun new shooting game for Switch for $5.  I've not had a gun title since the Wii stuff that was fairly decent depending on the game.  The couple action figures were a buck a piece and I can not figure out what the blue cowboy is (not Bravestarr) and the TMNT G1 Huffer was two.  The most expensive are those 2 toys from the 1930s, the old warships and they're intact.  The big box games are near perfect for $5 each complete, and each keychain was two.

I love finding DOS games at thrift stores. Just the other day I found that odd FMV cowboy game Maddog Mccree or whatever it was and a big box copy of the original Need for Speed. It was missing the game but I already had it loose so now it's complete, more or less. I don't know if the disc came in a jewel case or a sleeve. I do have a complete jewel case copy of the SE as well though.

Same here, and I know a few places to look now and again for them to crop up.  Yes it is Maddog you got it.  Very good one piecing the NFS game back together.  I've done that a few times in the last year with some notable PS1 games so it's fun making the fix.

I recently also got the Hint Book for Indiana JOnes and the Fate of Atlantis for not much and added that back into my box set CD -talkie version of the game I've had since it came out.  While I was at is also scored the Sam & Max book too which has fun comics all through it and a set of them in the end but also the game is rewritten in goofy chapter novella format in the back for added enjoyment.  Kind of wish Indy had the story done up too but the back area is saves for maps like of Atlantis.

Quake demo! I remember at a store I worked at got those. All the employees got the crack for it and we played full Quake on the store computers after work.

Yup that was qcrack, still can be had online, but you'll need an old XP 32bit PC so you can even use it exactly to its fullest.  You can fire it up in dosbox, but the Windows app to get the string needed to feed qcrack, let alone return the new one into the box to unlock the games is in the way and needs an old OS to look.  I've checked around a couple people tried pretty hard to disassemble and crack the crack but it seems to have only been fairly well figured out, but not enough to make a modern tool to access those files yet.

Also mega find today, non-gaming, but hey who can complain when you get Vintage 1994 Oakley's the M-Frame Carbon Fiber sunglasses with the iridium red lenses.  I grabbed a pic off an ebay auction that's fairly recent enough with a used pair, like these, great shape other than a few very minor scuffs on the lens that you can't see wearing them and that dude got paid $250 for them!  Yeah I could make a tidy profit, but I've always wanted Oakley's so these are staying with me.  I'm kind of shocked something 25 years old for sunglasses are in such surprisingly good condition and only set me back $8. :D  Thanks goodwill for missing the boat on that one.

The wife and I hit up what's called "Maxwell Street Days", a flea market held in Cedarburg, Wi at the Ozaukee County fairgrounds. It's mainly a "antique" type thing where vendors charge top dollar for collectible items. One dude was selling common 2600 games like ET loose for $15. Another had a beat up loose copy of Super Mario Land for $17.50...same price as his nice loose copy.

Only thing I bought was a gem from my childhood: a Milton Bradley Star Bird space ship. It's a little dinged up with a broken fighter/wing and some missing pieces but the sound effects still work. It has an electronic hover sound that changes pitch if you go up (goes higher) or down (goes lower). Even the front twin cannons flash and make noise.

Seeing how ridiculous the prices are online for these in worse shape, the $10 I paid was well worth it.
