Charlie_ #4 Posted May 22, 2011 Hey, NP. Sorry I was pressed for time yesterday. This is a great program. ST Detective. It lets you find what menu disk a game you might be looking for is on. Then you can normaly find the menu disk in the unsorted section of the link in my previous post. http://www.atari-forum.com/viewtopic.php?p=28318#28318 Then you can use this program to make the disks from images on a Windows PC. It is fantastic. http://atari.8bitchip.info/floimgd.php I'm affriad your going to be limited with the single sided drive, until you get it upgraded... Enjoy! Thorsten Günther #6 Posted May 23, 2011 For good games that were (originally) on single-sided disks, I'd recommend Starglider Nebulus (aka Tower Toppler, depending on which side of the pond you live) Elite Xenon Oids Stunt Car Racer Time Bandit The Pawn You should either get a double-sided disk drive or a HxC (will this work inside the SF354 case?). A RAM expansion is also recommended (1 meg will suffice for games, but 4 megs - using a 72 pin DRAM type SIMM, the appropriate socket and the instructions given by the late Techie Alison here are better of course). Thorsten Günther #8 Posted May 23, 2011 The HxC is a floppy drive replacement accepting (depending on which version one purchases) either USB data from a PC or SD flash memory cards instead of disks (the latter one is equipped with an LCD for selecting the appropriate disk image). Link It's available from Lotharek in Poland (either via his site or his eBay listings eBay Seller: lotharek1977).

jc78_2005 #10 Posted May 25, 2011 Can anyone confirm the hxc either working with double sided images or not, installed in the sf 354?
+wood_jl #11 Posted May 25, 2011 (edited) Can anyone confirm the hxc either working with double sided images or not, installed in the sf 354? Oh yeah, I use the HxC all the time in an SF354 case. I didn't want to deface my SF314. It was a bit of a pain in the butt getting extension cables. I bought some PC floppy cables and connectors and made the extension for the data cable. I was not able to find a female plug to make an actual power extension, so I just cut and spliced to lengthen the power wire. There's a thread about it here, somewhere in the ST forum, where I think (??) I posted my findings (etc) but I'll tell you I'm a rank amateur. edit: I should say I use HxC all the time WITH SF354 case, not "in." The plan is to go "in" later. edit again: This thread..... http://www.atariage.com/forums/topic/165297-where-to-source-st-floppy-cables-power-extension/ ......has some info. Charlie_ #13 Posted May 25, 2011 (edited) That HxC looks fantastic. What is .hfe image though? I've seen MSA and ST images are they easily converted to hfe for use with the HxC? Does the HxC support MSA and ST images? Edited May 25, 2011 by Official Ninja
mimo #14 Posted May 25, 2011 That HxC looks fantastic. What is .hfe image though? I've seen MSA and ST images are they easily converted to hfe for use with the HxC? Does the HxC support MSA and ST images? I cant remember the files HxC supports for ST, but I remember it worked better with .msa files. There is a simple programm that will batch convert .msa (and others) to .hfe. Quick and painless, but the HxC will only read .hfa files so you have to do the conversion
