DZ-Jay #26 Posted May 30, 2011 Nice find Rev! Interesting how they ask if you own an INTV I or II... wondering if there will be two different types of carts? I don't think so, I think they just make sure to code it to work in both and test it accordingly. The incompatibilities and potential pitfalls are very well known and easy to avoid--especially with the 30 years of research and reverse engineering that we have at hand today. -dZ. Phredreeke #27 Posted May 30, 2011 Whether a game will start on an Intellivision 2 is a matter of a single bit. If the game contains a valid year for the built-in copyright screen then that bit will be set. On the earliest Coleco games (and Word Fun) it wasn't, so the INTV2 refuses to boot those. I suppose the author is concerned with the timing differences that affected certain games when played on the Intellivision 2.
NightSprinter #28 Posted May 30, 2011 Yeah, Phredreeke, that actually is a concern for INTV homebrew developers. There were timing differences, as it's documented on the Blue Sky Rangers site. Wouldn't be good to make a game that works differently on one revision of the system compared to all the others (including the licensed clones that were based off the original's design).

Wondering if they would put two games inside one cart, and one would automaticly boot based on the console? I think Rev has probably drummed up a little business for INTV!!!! This is a game worth pimpin'! again, to be clear, neither Rev nor Dryfter nor I have any interest in this game other than being really stoked that the INTV homebrews are starting to roll out the door again for the first time in four years! DZ-jay, know that we'll help you pimp your games as well whenever they're ready!

toptenmaterial #39 Posted June 1, 2011 (edited) I am curious about one thing: did licensing become an issue at all with using the DK name for this new release? Edited June 1, 2011 by toptenmaterial

Rev #41 Posted June 1, 2011 I am curious about one thing: did licensing become an issue at all with using the DK name for this new release? I don't think it will or did......Look at all the other homebrews on other systems. pacman collection on colecovision pitfall arcade on colecovision look at probably half of homebrews made and the name is owned by some large game company. +cmart604 #50 Posted June 27, 2011 Spoke to David this morning, if you want this title I'd really encourage you to go to intellivision.us and sign up for the newsletter, at which time you let him know that you want a copy of DK Arcade as I believe that might end up being the only way to buy one. The demand for this is understandably pretty high and I suspect it'll sell out on pre-order or pretty close to it. Looks like pre-orders will be taken around July 20th with the games hopefully being shipped late August/early September.
