Im teh Homestaw Wunna!! #1 Posted May 28, 2011 I've always thought it would be cool to have Pitfall II with the "pokey" sound instead of it being sped-up all weird. It would EPICLY SAUSOME to release that. Just want somebody to post a rom. pretty good jorb there hamstray! i mean homegrown! ramrod?
+GroovyBee #2 Posted May 28, 2011 Its not as simple as "just post a ROM". You need to reverse engineer the game's ROM image into 6502 assembler and then convert DPC sound to its POKEY equivalent. You might also have to think about bank switching if you go over the original ROM size. You couldn't make a standalone cart because there were no POKEY+DPC PCBs released back in the day so you'd need to design a new PCB. However, you could make a cart for the upcoming XM and use its POKEY.

+GroovyBee #4 Posted June 4, 2011 yeah. i meant like emulating the pokey sound inside the game. You have to replace the DPC to TIA sound register accesses in the game with their POKEY equivalents. There are not enough free CPU cycles to simulate POKEY.
