playing strange mame ROMs with numbers in the extensions

Recommended Posts

hi, i was wondering if someone here could help me.

i downloaded the star wars mame rom (the 1983 rev 2) and all the files in the zip look like this:

136021-105.1l

136021.102

136021.103

i have no idea how to use mame to play them...

thanks for the help!

You don't unzip it; put the zip in the ROMs folder.

Pretty sure the documentation covers this.

thanks for the welcome.

unfortunately, putting the zip in the roms folder won't help, it was actually the first thing that i tried.

Actually, it does help. That's how the emulator expects to find the rom. After that, you may want to look into making the emulator (you haven't said which emulator or version you've got) scan the roms folder to find out what's there.

You're not just double clicking a mame.exe and expecting a GUI, I assume.

there is no problem with the folder, I've used several other roms with it, when I run it with -verifyroms it doesn't show only this specific roms.

anyway, it's probably just the rom broken. I thought I don't no how to use it because until now i used only roms in folders. thanks for the help anyway...
