ddaniels #1 Posted May 31, 2011 Two video game bugs that I remember from my youth involved Intellivision Baseball and Intellivision Hockey. Baseball - If I had a guy on third base and there were two outs I would start to run home as the ball was being released by the pitcher. If I knew I was going to be out at first I would stop running home (timing was critical for this trick) and watch just as the first baseman caught the ball for the third out. Just at the same moment the out occured I would push the disc to the right (causing the runner to start running home again). If you timed it just right and were close enough to homebase that runner would cross homeplate and count before the rest of the players exited the field. It came down to the timing of when to move the player and being close enough to homeplate so you could score before the players exited the field. This was a stunt that I could repeat time and time again so I would argue it wasn't some one time fluke. Hockey - I remember while playing against my friend if one of his players without the puck was right in front of my penalty box and I checked him causing a penalty you would go to the penalty box but all of a sudden I was able to continue to skate around the ice as that player as if I never got the penalty. The odd thing was I was skating around the ice in the sitting position which was hilarious. Normally, when you went to the penalty box the graphics of the guy were drawn that you were in a sitting position and had to wait for two minutes. That was a bug that we tried to repeat but I don't think we ever were able to duplicate it again. That was hilarous to see your player in the sitting position moving around on the ice. Any other Intv owners come across these bugs or videogame bugs in general?
IntellivisionDude #2 Posted May 31, 2011 (edited) Very interesting. I wish i could remember if i knew any bugs. It's been such a long time. Can they just be random bugs? In Slam Dunk Super Pro Basketball, once in a while while jumping (I think it may be a blocked shot) your player will fly off screen and you can even shoot from out of bounds. I'll try and remember if there were any others i used to know. Edited May 31, 2011 by IntellivisionDude
Chuck D. Head #3 Posted May 31, 2011 I have been playing Demon Attck the last week or so and three times now the screen has gone completely black for 5-7 seconds; after this the game comes back as normal, with nothing having changed during the blackout. Very strange.
+thegoldenband #4 Posted May 31, 2011 (edited) There are lots of bugs in Championship Tennis. Just off the top of my head, I've seen it: - completely refuse to allow you to serve, thus ending the game - start one player on the wrong side of the net - suddenly create "phantom copies" of your player - send your player in the opposite direction of the one you push -- at high speed! - allow you to hit forehands that are well beyond your player's reach (this one is really, really handy) - throw up the "FAULT" message for a bad serve when the computer player is struck by the ball while standing in the service box The first three of those bugs seem to be triggered by looking at the scoreboard between games -- I guess that feature wasn't fully playtested. The latter three, OTOH, can happen anytime. Also, this isn't a bug per se, but the overlays and manual have the buttons for "lob" and "soft shot" completely reversed! EDIT: Wow, I forgot some! "Phantom rackets that show up 20 feet away from the player" and "overhead smashes that bounce so high they cause an overflow error (I assume) and reappear embedded in the court surface, like that commercial a while back where Andy Roddick's serve gets stuck in the clay." Strangely enough, despite all of these problems it's still one of my favorite Inty games, and a really impressive title overall. 1980gamer #5 Posted May 31, 2011 Triple Action Tanks has some fun stuff. I don't know if all of these are bug or not? 1. If the 2 tanks are touching for a few seconds, bong sound goes off and at that point you can "float" your tank. Press the "gas" or forward side button for the briefest moment you can. When the tank moves, it will float through walls, and even off the screen. Sometimes you go completely off the screen, you can still shoot while floating and even while off the screen. 2. You can shoot around corners, with the correct angle you can bend shots around corners. with the correct angle, you can make a shot bounce inside of a wall. #2 does not work well on the DS version. But I have had shots bounce off of trees etc. Bump 'n jump you can jump around the screen ( can't in arcade ) also, you can jump around but stop just as your car goes off the screen and you can finish a level without bumping a single car and get the 50K bonus! I know a few others, but lets see who else chimes in! Oh, being as hockey has already been covered, you can also score shooting at the back of the net. ( at least in super pro hockey, haven't tried in NHL )
icbrkr #6 Posted June 3, 2011 In Armor Battle, you can drive below the bottom part of the screen. You can keep 'pushing' your tank until the game lets you do it. You'll emerge from the top part of the screen and become invincible at that point (it's been 30 years since I tried it, so my technique may be a bit off )

cparsley #8 Posted June 13, 2011 As for Armour Battle and Bump 'n Jump, the reason for both is how the INTV handles a static screen, with differing results. In Battle, your "not" supposed to be able to go from tom/bottom, etc so if you get it to do so, you will be not hittable as your "in the INTV's mind" no longer on that "page". As for Bump 'n Jump, you "are" allowed to go from far left to far right etc, but to accomplish that on the INTV programming it has to provide a small "page break", and that is where your jumping into, as the game, not knowing it's there, just reads it as a road. This is also why you can't just go there and forget forever cause since your "on a road in the INTV/game's mind", once the level ends, it'll try to drive you to the middle to complete the round, crashing you and losing a life. This actually is also the reason why a morph or these two "glitches/bugs" can occur in Lock 'n Chase. Cause while your not "supposed" to be able to go tom/bottom, you are supposed to be able to go left/right. So by pushing up/down repeatively while in a left/right tunnel you can get Lupin to start going on the far edge of the game board on that "strip". On the odd times around the board you ARE Vulnerable from a cop from dying. On the 2nd time forever, you are "rewarded" with virtually unlimited points. Those points score every second based on whatever the secondary object is for that level (so doing it in level 1 while count in 200s, level 2 in 300s etc) There is also another bug in Lock 'n Chase, dying the FINAL LIFE and landing Lupin on one of the "Game Over" letters will score a payout equal to whatever the secondary object is for the level. There is always the well known B-17 Bomber glitch that can end the game (divide by 0 error) but as they say if we document it it's a feature not a bug. Burgertime will kill you and then bring you back to life if you die on the last bun (die when hit, back to life when bun lands) There are more later when I got time to think of em.
