Thrust+ Joystick Control Question

For those of you who have Thrust plus - Please Help ! I have read the manual, but I must be missing something. I can rotate and thrust forward, but how can one fire ! The fire button seems to do nothing. I tried other games just to verify my joysticks are working and they are.

 

I do not have foot peddals or driving controllers. The manual is confusing on this point. I have tried two joystick configurations

I just sent you email regarding this, but I'll post here for the benefit of others. You need to make sure your difficulty switches are set to the B position. You should be able to fire then.
