I wonder if those controllers are any good. Hopefully they are compatible with the original system. It could make a great new source of controllers. Of course, they will probably suck like the Atari ones do.

The quotes from this thread already said they were going to be compatible.

I have some Atari Flashback controllers. They are actually pretty decent clones of the original joysticks, and I use them with my 'real' 2600 all the time.

Supposedly the controllers for this Coleco Flashback are supposed to be 100% compatible with the real deal.

We shall see....

if you read through this and other threads, you will see that it (and also the new Intellivision Flashback) are based on customized ARM processors running emulator software.

According to some folks who have played demo units at shows, the emulation quality is very good, and very close to "the real deal".

Someplace in the Midwest today, a European 51 y.o. dude stopped at some store, and bought these. [Yeah, I know. They were not supposed to be sold until October 1st. Maybe my charming accent helped ;-)].

I love the units and the controllers. They feel "real", look about the same size as the original (will check later on), and the Colecovision controller feel better, more responsive, less clunky!

Will try them out later on, after dinner.post-32532-0-87113500-1408842011_thumb.jpgpost-32532-0-87039100-1408842019_thumb.jpgpost-32532-0-45871600-1408842027_thumb.jpgpost-32532-0-53033900-1408842030_thumb.jpgpost-32532-0-26407000-1408842036_thumb.jpg

Fairly bad quality video, but you get the idea.

I'm VERY pleased with this product! The controllers feel great, very much like the original, yet better. The "mushroom" stick has a nice click to it, and it's very responsive. The side buttons are great, equally more responsive. The keypad, rather than being made of one single layer, has individual buttons, nice and soft.

Emulation is spot-on, down to the (annoying? :)] few seconds delay on the title screen. Pepper II plays just like the original (I'm a big fan of this game).

Excellent product!
