INtellivision to USB Adapters

Recommended Posts

Anybody own one?

I found two places that sell them. Retrousb.com has a kit, that looks like it is better suited for an Intellivision 2 as you can use a DB9 connector and make an adapter, whereas Intellivision 1 controllers would almost have to have the cord replaced with the USB blug. Price is $17.

Then I ran across this...

http://www.raphnet-tech.com/products/intellivision_to_usb_adapter/index.php?category=

Where you can use the Intellivions 1 controller, yet not have to destroy the original cable, and can just be unplugged and put back in the system. Price is $25.00

Which is the better controller? Intelli 1 or 2? I had a 1 back in the day, but not sure. Anybody here ever use either one??

I ordered the raphnet adapter last week.

I have a non-working model 1, but I know the controllers work fine.

I was surprised to see that this adapter supports 16 directions.

I let you know how I make out.

I like the looks of the Raphnet adapters, compatibility wise. But I'd be very careful about the bare wires at the connection point. It wouldn't take much to snag them on something and rip them out of their own connector. Would try to rig some sort of protective encasement.

I own a retrousb one. Works well. I made a little converter to go from their pinout to the header of the Intellivision 1 controller so I didn't have to hard wire it. I posted about it a few months ago.

Finally received my Raphnet Intellivision USB adapter (the Canadian Postal Service strike really held things up). Anyway, it works very well. Nostalgia emulator recognized it and I was able to map the buttons. It has 16 direction controls as promised. No issues yet.

All the best,
