ATARI7800fan #1 Posted June 6, 2011 Halo 4 is not the only new game, according to Wikipedia and microsoft's and 343 industries site's. "343 Industries was established by Microsoft Game Studios in 2007 after Bungie, the then current developers of the Halo franchise, became an independent studio.[1] On April 29, 2010, Bungie announced that Halo: Reach would be their last Halo game, and that all future projects would be developed by 343.[2] During this transition, some Bungie staff members transferred to 343, including Franchise Director Frank O'Connor. Their first project was Halo Waypoint, a downloadable application for the Xbox 360 where players can track their accomplishments through the Halo series of games. 343 has also developed Halo: Reach's second map pack entitled "Defiant" in conjunction with Certain Affinity. Additionally, the studio was involved in the development of Halo Legends, a collection of animated short films based on the Halo lore. They are currently hiring via their website for the development of their first Halo game, which it is confirmed to be the first title of a new trilogy, Halo 4. Halo 4 is the seventh installment in the best-selling Halo franchise.[1] The game's 2012 release was announced at the end of Microsoft's 2011 E3 press conference, and will be the first major installment to be released less than 3 years after the previous one, however 5 years after its direct predecessor, Halo 3. According to the conference presenter, Halo 4 is intended to be the first of a new trilogy of Halo series games. Whereas the previous Halo games were developed by Bungie, Halo 4 will be developed by 343 Industries. The game continues some time after the ending of Halo 3, and marks a return of the Master Chief as the playable character. Internal Year Title Platform Notes 2009 Halo Waypoint Xbox 360 Application. Major Havoc 2049 #5 Posted June 7, 2011 Since they are keeping the series going, I wish they would drop the number.
Karyyk #6 Posted June 8, 2011 Maybe they will. It doesn't really make sense to call it a Halo game (I really thought they were done with all that). It was ok to be surprised with a second Halo in Halo 2, but if they just happen to come across ANOTHER one in Halo 4, well, I thought Halo Anniversary was the remake? Hopefully they'll bring some new ideas, settings and enemies to the table.
