BDW #1 Posted June 7, 2011 (edited) http://kotaku.com/5809241/playstation-vita-its-official-and-heres-the-price At this price, this is a definite buy for me. After the PS3 price fiasco, I definitely expected the Vita to be way more expensive. Edited June 7, 2011 by brandondwright

King_Salamon #3 Posted June 7, 2011 $250 is a sweet price... looking forward to it! Other than uncharted, what else is coming out for launch?

Austin #5 Posted June 7, 2011 I hope the tilt function in some of those games is optional, heh.
toptenmaterial #6 Posted June 7, 2011 (edited) Sony should take a lesson from our dear old Atari and not spread themselves too thin.... will they be competing against themselves? Edit: I thought we were talking about the phone, my bad. But even still... You know what, the Nintendo fanboy in me will stop hating now. It really looks good! Jess Ragan #7 Posted June 7, 2011 I'm impressed with the price. Hopefully the rumored drop in specs to squeeze it under the $250 bar won't hurt the system too much. Looks like Nintendo's going to have to start chopping the price of its own 3DS to stay competitive.
+HammR25 #8 Posted June 7, 2011 You'll have to download all your games for it since there's no other way to get anything onto the system. http://us.playstation.com/psvita/tech-specs/
cimerians #9 Posted June 7, 2011 That price tag is great but I'm not sure about screen tilting and things like that. I also hope that's optional. Graphics look on par with a console....not sure how I feel about no physical media anymore.
Mendon #10 Posted June 7, 2011 (edited) Speaking for myself....... No physical media = No purchase. Question: I haven't had a chance to watch the Sony conference yet so I'm unsure... at one time Sony was talking about releasing games on USB drives or something for the NG. Did Sony rule this method out in their conference and elect to go with a "PSPGo download only" method? Mendon Edited June 7, 2011 by Mendon

The PS Vita will use flash based NVG cards to distribute games.

S1500 #13 Posted June 7, 2011 just what a video game console needed: a monthly contract(all PSN and XBL aside). Rask: Do the tacos have DLC? I mean, can you get the sour cream pack & will they throw in the shredded cheese challenge?
Rex Dart #14 Posted June 7, 2011 Street Fighter looks interesting, if they'd throw in some characters I care about I might pick it up if I get a Vita.
raskar42 #15 Posted June 7, 2011 Rask: Do the tacos have DLC? yes - about an hour after you eat them.
Algus #16 Posted June 7, 2011 Interesting. And for once the cheaper model of a gadget appeals to me. I don't have a cell phone that can do a data plan for the same reason I don't want the 3G Vita, I don't want to pay that out each month. Isn't 3G kind of old now though? I don't know a lot about that broadband wifi stuff. I'm definitely setting aside some cash for the base model though. The PSP treated me well.
Rex Dart #17 Posted June 7, 2011 Has anybody heard if the 3G model will be free or paid service? If it's kindle-style it may be worth it. Otherwise, nope.

As soon as I saw Street Fighter X listed there I quickly looked to see what I can find out about this version. So far I cant find much info....

"The game was announced for PlayStation Vita at E3 2011, and will feature Cole from inFamous as a playable character.[12] Other Capcom games will be referenced, such as Dino Crisis, which has a stage based around one of its levels" So electro will be in it I'm a Tekken\SF fan so this game is a dream come true for me. I never thought Tekken would co-exist with any fighter.

Animan #23 Posted June 7, 2011 (edited) Gawd. I just got the 3DS, and now Sony shows me THIS!? I might buy it. But only for Wipeout. And nothing else. Well played, Sony. Well played. (Pssst! Nintendo! Now is your chance to make a new F-Zero for the 3DS! Do it! Now! Go!) Edited June 7, 2011 by Animan
ATARI7800fan #24 Posted June 8, 2011 No physical media and AT&T as a carrier? Not interested. It does have physical media. Software for the PlayStation Vita will be distributed on NVG Cards, a new proprietary flash card format, rather than on Universal Media Discs (UMDs) used by the original PlayStation Portable. NVG game cards will be available in 2 GB and 4 GB sizes. 5 — 10% of the writeable space will be reserved for save data, patches, etc. Higher-capacity game cards are planned to be made available for future releases
+atari2600land #25 Posted June 8, 2011 I'm torn between getting either a PS Vita or 3DS. I have always gone with Nintendo with handhelds, but after branching out with classic handhelds from other companies, I might get a PS Vita. I don't really need a cell phone, so is it possible to not get a cell phone plan and still be able to play the games? I am relieved Sony decided to go with physical media, so people like me who buy games from stores can still do so, but it seems like those days are numbered, which is sad really because I like game packaging. If I do decide to get one on launch day, I'll get me Wipeout, as nothing else seems to be appropriate for my tastes. Are there pictures of the cards and what they look like anywhere?
