SlowCoder #1 Posted June 7, 2011 My backup H6 had faded (green/yellow) and worn woodgrain on the front, and the switch bezel's orange outline was also worn badly. No way did this thing look good. So I decided to fix it. Presenting my Vader H6: To those with questions to ask ... No actual Vaders were harmed in the making of this machine. The hardware you see is all original H6. I turned a real eyesore into a real beauty, I think.
zylon #2 Posted June 7, 2011 Awesome! It'd be even cooler if it had the 2600 silkscreened on front. Maybe get a decal made?

Yeah, I tried to save the one that was on there. But it just wasn't to be. Good thing is that the logo's outline is actually embedded in the plastic, so if I can manage a steady enough hand I may be able to paint it back on. But that'll have to be a death defying attempt for another day.

Rex Dart #5 Posted June 7, 2011 Hey, not too bad. I think it'd look even better if you managed to get a Jr/7800 style rainbow stripe on there, but it does look nice already.
SlowCoder #6 Posted June 7, 2011 I love you. I know. This is actually a pretty simple process. Both the bezel and grain come off with alcohol. The bezel took me about 5 minutes using q-tips. The front grain took about 3 hours to remove using lots of paper towels doused in alcohol, and elbow grease. If I'd had a big enough bowl, I'd have allowed the grain to soak for a while. But I didn't, so I couldn't.
