Game Maker Program.

Recommended Posts

After I saw a post from Inky about this game maker program and how easy it is to make your own game, I down loaded it with the thought of making some games, but what I wanted to know is how hard would it be to convert a game to be made into a 2600 cart. I know it depends on the programming of the game, but if I made a game along the lines of Raiders of the Lost Ark, with the simple graphics and game play, would it be all that hard to convert it into Atari 2600 type of code.

:? :? :?

You mean to run it on a 2600?

If so, probably impossible. If you mean into machine language.. Perhaps there is a way, but I dunno.

Game maker software is mostly not very usefull. Because the 2600 has just a 2K rom space an less ram. A game maker would create not very effective source. When you can write one that can optimize output code then maybe. But I still think for these kind of machines hand-made programs are the best.

For the 7800 you have atleast 32Kb I think, that can do with a less optimized program.
