tz101 #2 Posted June 10, 2011 Is that a combo tape/game cartridge? The article shows that image, but really says nothing about it after that.
SoundGammon #3 Posted June 10, 2011 ..it seems the article is about different audio formats, where 8-track tapes were the stupidest...
Red 5 #4 Posted June 10, 2011 I think this has to be a joke. Expecially when you look at the "other 8 track double enders" listed on this site... http://www.vgg.com/2600/inter8tracks.html We here at the old AtariAge would have been on this before now I would hope... +5-11under #5 Posted June 10, 2011 (edited) You'll need the whole set: http://www.vgg.com/2600/inter8tracks.html Edit: looks like I'm a bit late. Anyway, finally it makes sense why Atari tapes are sometimes confused with 8 track cartridges. Edited June 10, 2011 by 5-11under

dwane413 #7 Posted June 10, 2011 On the tv in the picture, it looks like Dragster with with a horizon and clouds added onto the top.
ntavio #8 Posted June 10, 2011 If these "double-enders" do exist, I am sure CPUWIZ or Wonder007 own one or more. I got a kick out the description for the Rush game: Rush, Permanent Waves (1980) Rush's foray into interactive 8-tracks is unique in that the game had nothing to do with the album. Instead of a game based on the hit songs like "Freewill" or "Jacob's Ladder," the band gave us "Geddy's Lee's Pancake Canoe," where the player is Geddy Lee, riding a pancake canoe down a syrup creek, trying to get the best time while avoiding forks and butter pats downstream. bohoki #12 Posted June 11, 2011 the reason i do not believe is because i have loads of 8 tracks and have taken them apart often to repair and they need all that space in there even the smallest cartridge board would not fit in the pictured item
raskar42 #13 Posted June 11, 2011 from the illustration - it looks like there is a cart end sticking out of the bottom. it's been a long long time since i saw an 8track - how large is one in relation to a vcs cart?

Keatah #17 Posted June 11, 2011 you can see part of the cartridge-bank-thing in the slow ride edit. Look right above the reset switch and to the right a little. See? And anyways, the angles on the 8-track combo cart are all wrong anyways. do the math!
Amstari #18 Posted June 11, 2011 You could put Supercharger games on an 8-track and load them. Stella Gets a New Brain: 8-Track Edition

Stella Gets a New Brain: 8-Track Edition I just now typed out,"I want to rock out to some Supercharger 8-tracks." before you posted and AA locked up on me before I could post it.
