drnicholas #1 Posted June 19, 2011 (edited) Im new here (forum-wise, ive read this place before). Im not exactly sure if this is the right location to put this but since it involves emulation, I guess its the place. I have been looking for a gba emulator thats shaped like a gba and i cna take aorund places. Ive been looking on dealextreme and I found something, but it was out of stock. I found a gba sp clone, but you cant put any more roms on it and thats a dealbreaker. Theres oen shaped like an original gba but eh. Then I saw this new one that just came out: 3" LCD GameBox Advance Handheld Game Console MP3/MP4 Multimedia Player w/ TV-Output/TF - Black (2GB) Is it what I think it is or should I wait a couple weeks (i'll be out of town for a couple weeks anyways) for reviews to pour in? Thanks EDIT: Then I can put the old atari gba roms on it Edited June 19, 2011 by drnicholas

monzamess #4 Posted June 19, 2011 Ok, I see. Don't know if it's the same internally but it's interesting that compared to the old one it has a TF card slot instead the built-in games and it's called a "Gamebox" instead of "Gameboy." Looks like they're actually concerned (a little bit) about copyrights.
OldSchoolRetroGamer #5 Posted June 19, 2011 Interesting. I wonder if it is the portable version of THIS: http://www.dealextreme.com/p/gamebox-multi-game-platform-tv-video-game-console-with-dual-shock-joypad-gamepad-set-pal-ntsc-54070 Because I have that and it does play GBA carts. drnicholas #6 Posted June 19, 2011 ITs probably the same :3 thanks for bringing that up. Now we just have to wait for someone to recieve it and review it. Does your gamebox have good gba emulation or is it slow/fast/offpitch?
OldSchoolRetroGamer #7 Posted June 19, 2011 ITs probably the same :3 thanks for bringing that up. Now we just have to wait for someone to recieve it and review it. Does your gamebox have good gba emulation or is it slow/fast/offpitch? From the little I have tried it seems playable, a little slow down and audio imperfections but pretty good overall. There is a lot to be found on Youtube demonstrating. Here are a couple randoms: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_UYOwdwLKFQ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mYtWl-s1izo
drnicholas #8 Posted June 19, 2011 Do you think you might order one?
OldSchoolRetroGamer #9 Posted June 19, 2011 (edited) Do you think you might order one? Not likely. I am not one for portable gaming and I think I am already covered with my PSP's (hacked firmware) / Nintendo DS / Dingoo / Caanoo / GP2X Wiz / GBA SP......... OH and BTW, WELCOME TO THE FORUMS......... Edited June 19, 2011 by OldSchoolRetroGamer
drnicholas #10 Posted June 19, 2011 Thanks. Hopefully soon theres a review and I have a chance to get one before dealextreme is raped of its resources. is the one shaped like an original gba a better deal?

Thanks EDIT: Then I can put the old atari gba roms on it This console has been available in east-Asia for nearly 2 years now. The built-in games are mostly ROM hacks, but some are straight copies of original games. The system itself performs as you'd expect for the money. It's not full speed and does have slowdown in many games, but it is still playable. The screen is not as good as the GBA-SP AGS-101, but still decent enough brightness. The screen doesn't refresh as quickly though, so there's ghosting which isn't present on the original console. Unless you enjoy playing around with pirate game consoles, don't bother with it. You're much better off getting a real GBA-SP. There is no comparing this console to the Gamebox console. Game compatibility is not the same between the systems and this unit performs better overall.
