Im probably going to have to file my first neg feedeback.

Bought a 1050 drive that was suppose to be in excellent condition...great. I win the auction, less than two days later this D-bag sends me a message threating to file a complaint against unless I pay pretty much immediatly..ok. Strike one on the douche scale. I send payment right after that message. I received the drive today..shipping cost less than I paid ..Strike two, but that seems to be the norm for sellers lately. I opend up the box and the drive is just sitting in shreds of paper, absolutley no care at all was put into protecting this thing. Surprise, there is a gaping hole busted in the black trim on the case. There also is no disk or even a pice of cardboard to protect the drive. So I email this kid and it sounds like he is about to accuse me of either breaking it myself or something.

Dear saikasboro,

I got the drive today, the case has a whole in it. You can't pack an almost 25+ old piece of of computer equipment with no bubble wrap, just thown into shreaded paper. These things ideally should have a disk or sonmething in the drive by because the heads can get messed up in shipping, with the size of the whole in the case Id say this thing is probably f'd hardcore. Whats your email, I want to send a pic of the gaping hole.

Send it. And, you know, had you said something about it shipping better with a disk in the drive before you bought it, or even before I shipped it, it would not have been an issue. But you wait until after you receive it to mention anything. Interesting. And I packed it with more than enough paper to protect it while shipping, it took me twenty minutes to pack the thing. But yea, feel free to send a picture of the 'whole' in the case. Have you tried to power it on?

So, i guess not everyone knows to secure the drive that could be forgivable, but this thing looks like it was packed by a blind parpaligic.

so heres the damage.

So, Im pretty much convinced the can be no fixing this situation by the attitude from the seller so far, can anyone blame me for just neg repping his dumb ass and trying to recoup my losses through credit card? I alwyas use the credit option when I pay just incase someone jacks me over, I figure it is easier than going through paypals flaming hoops.

Not securing the drive, maybe hes just one of those people that just go to garage sales buying stuff they think is worth money to flip when they really have no idea. That is possible. The crack in the plastic seems pretty substantial if the guy actually packaged it "with more than enough paper to protect it while shipping". Seems to me like you have the douchiest of sellers there.

Personally this is why I won't even ship a cartridge in a bubble envelope without extra bubble wrap usually (depending on the brand of the envelope). I mean I've sent and received a decent amount of packages and when it comes to shipping you can never really tell how they will handle it on the way. That's why shredded paper would never be an option for shipping in itself (the item in my opinion would still have to be wrapped with bubble). I mean if you shake a box with a heavier object inside, it isnt going to make a difference how much shredded paper in the box unless there is so much that it has formed into a solid from the pressure.

You should definitely bring up that you got overcharged for shipping and figured that was for packing supplies (although the good sellers that use bubble/styrofoam etc dont seem to charge a handling fee in my experience). It isnt up to the buyer to beg the seller for packing/shipping that wont break what you buy. I would say once you basically tell him its his fault and ask for a remedy you are within every right to leave neg, and try your luck charging back.

GL dude.

I would give the seller a reasonable time to reply and see if they are willing to make things right.

On the other hand, if I was the seller, I wouldn't be very happy if someone posted my email address to a public forum where anyone could see it. Actually, I think that is a violation of eBay rules:

Publishing contact information

(quoting relevant parts only)

Publishing the contact information of another eBay member in any online public area is not permitted.

....

'Online public areas' include these and similar areas:

....

* Online forums

....

Examples of the type of information eBay considers private:

....

* Name

....

* Email address

He will take the neg? He's the one ruining his reputation. I don't think he can't left you a negative now, so the system works for you.

P/S: He's a newbie too. He has a 100%. Tell him you'll neg his ass unless you get a refund, and he pays the shipping to get the drive back (it probably doesn't work either)

Since when is it the buyers responsibility to instruct the seller on how to ship goods? If the seller doesn't have the least bit of common sense on how to package an item, he/she shouldn't be selling on eBay.

Do you mean you paid with credit card through paypal? If so - file a claim, it's a cut and shut case, provided you describe the events as they occured and provide photos.

Otherwise, filing a chargeback on credit card takes a fair bit of time, and from what I understand may only applt to fraudulent amount withdrawals and not disputes such as this.

Also, while you can - edit and remove the sellers email from this forum

I now politely tell the seller how I'd like something shipped. If I didn't, I'm convinced 3/4's or more of my purchases would end up damaged in transit - that's how careless a majority of internet sellers are today.

Ha ha,I tried that with this 5200.Specified in shipping instructions"Please make sure box is protected in transit"

When I contacted them,they thought I meant the contents :x

And then they stated"to many problems in the world these days"I shouldnt worry about it.

Needless to say its not going to be my worry!!

Doh, that is ugly right there.

Im gonna test this thing maybe. If it does by some miracle still work I could probably find a broken 1050 and swap the trim on it. F'n shame because this one looked like it WAS in decent condition; no yellowing at all.

In the last few months on eBay I've had someone send me a VIC-20 and an Atari 400 to me like that...in the original boxes with no additional protection. One of the many reasons I no longer use eBay...

I got a cib 2800like that but worse. When I put in a claim, ebay sided with the seller. The ebay 'toys and collectibles' specialist refused to acknowledge that the box was as much as a collectible as the actual console.
