youki #1 Posted June 29, 2011 Is there CV owner fan of game like "the way of exploding fist" or "International Karaté" ?
Yurkie #2 Posted June 29, 2011 I am not familiar with those titles, but if they are fighting games...they would not be of interest to me. I am not a fighting game fan.
NIAD #3 Posted June 29, 2011 The backdrops (scenery) was a lot more impressive than the gameplay of International Karate.

Pixelboy #5 Posted June 29, 2011 The only fighting game I've ever really enjoyed was Street Fighter II. Over-the-top moves are always more fun for me than the more "realistic" martial arts. I'd love to have a game like that on the CV.
newcoleco #6 Posted June 29, 2011 Oh... is this topic means that you are actually working on your fighting game project then?
Ikrananka #7 Posted June 30, 2011 (edited) Well, Way of The Exploding Fist (WOTEF) was a game I thoroughly enjoyed playing on my Commodore 64 when I was a kid. I'm not typically a fan of fighting games but I enjoyed the simplicity and fun that WOTHF combined. In my opinion WOTEF combined a decent number of fighting moves (but not too many as to be complicated making it very accessible for the casual gamer) with fun gameplay and very well produced animation. I never played IK but I know that many seem to view it as superior to WOTEF. Edited June 30, 2011 by Ikrananka
bfg.gamepassion #8 Posted June 30, 2011 I've played tons of hours on exploding fist 1 on c64 with his digitized sound !!
ozma wars #9 Posted June 30, 2011 No thanks hate fighting games... anyway these games better on more "modern" consoles where more buttons/movements.
youki #10 Posted June 30, 2011 Personally i hate fighting game since SF2 . and i really LOVE fighting game like Ik and Fist ... the nirvana being IK+ , the best fighting game ever made!. You don't need lot of button for a fighting game , only one and 8 direction is perfectly enough. I think that's a kind of game that is missing on Colecovision . Thanks to opcode we have Yie ar Kung Fu , but for me Yie ar Kung fu is something closer to SF2 than a Internationnal Karaté or Way of Exploding Fist. Not realistic enough. If some of you can read French, i wrote few time ago an article that show VS fighting game evolution from end of 70's to Street Fighter 2 time . And you will see that SF2 was not inovative... http://www.atomicfe.com/archeogamers/site/article/article_sf2.htm
Crapahute #11 Posted June 30, 2011 I for myself don't like 'modern' fighting games. But I for sure love The Way Of The Exploding Fist that I used to play on my Amstrad CPC6128 (sorry Youki, no C64 ) and IK+ on my Atari 520ST was terrific !!
Pixelboy #12 Posted June 30, 2011 Personally i hate fighting game since SF2. It's like you and I were born to disagree about eveything.

UberArcade #15 Posted July 6, 2011 I love these kinds of games. I think it would be a great addition to the ColecoVision.

youki #22 Posted July 7, 2011 as everyone seems to speak french here... If you are interrested, i have been interviewed about that game , you can read it here : http://www.gamopat.com/article-interview-youki-developpeur-coleco-78759281.html
newcoleco #23 Posted July 7, 2011 (edited) as everyone seems to speak french here... If you are interrested, i have been interviewed about that game , you can read it here : http://www.gamopat.com/article-interview-youki-developpeur-coleco-78759281.html Nuance : La musique que j'ai composée pour ce jeu ColecoVision est inspirée de la musique du jeu IK composée par Rob Hubbard et non une copie. Pourquoi? In english... err... I think it's better if you just listen the music and imagine what I've said in french. MP3 : cv_ik.mp3 Edited July 7, 2011 by newcoleco
