Does anybody know how many unique NTSC titles there were for the 2600 (excluding label variations and company variations etc..)?? I want to know where I sit as far as how many more games I need until I can say that I have MOST of the 2600 games. Thanks.

If you want every NTSC title, you'll have to look for overseas titles that were programmed in NTSC, raising the number. I'm not sure how many of these were unique and not pirates, though.

This is helpful.... I had never thought of International versions that were programmed in NTSC. I have viewd the DP guide and I notice there are alot of doubles there (ie: label and company repeats etc...). You could say that I was too lazy to go through the list and cross out what I have and count the remainder. I am curious because I rely mainly on wild finds. I started out my 2600/7800 collection just in the past few months and would say that I have done fairly well so far. Mainly commons to start, however, I am getting to where I have learned more about what was released and I am having a harder time finding some of the titles in the wild. Like most collectors, I also want some of the harder titles to find. I don't like ebay and I have faith that I will eventually find most of what I am looking for in the wild. The emulators are confusing and I don't have the patience to screw around with that-maybe I am missing something but they don't seem user friendely. I have a MacOS 8.6 G3. I guess I am just trying to get a feel for what I am realistically up against as far as wild finds are concerned. I have found a few stores in Ontario that sell Atari games but they are greedy and sell for way too much.

good luck finding carts in the wild, if you look long enough you'll find a good source. Don't forget to check flea/swap markets and thrifts when you travel on vacation. The DP guide isn't too bad with repeats, I think they just list the Atari and Sears versions of carts as well as things like Activision's blue Demon Attack and Imagic's Demon Attack. While these are the same games, different makers and different cart artwork make them cool additions to our collections for most of us.
