ColecoVision Score Submissions

Recommended Posts

Remember when you used to take pictures of the score on your TV and mail them in to Electronic Games Magazine or Activision?

The ColecoVision Retroboards are an electronic scoreboard with retro submission guidelines. Unlike other scoreboards where you are required to mail a VHS recording, the ColecoVision Retroboards require only a photo along with player information for score verification.

This is not a tournament - this is an electronic scoreboard with no submission deadlines. It is a contest that never ends.

The Retroboards are located here and please read the submission guidelines in the ColecoVision Retroboards forum before posting scores (like any other site: membership required).

And if you could, stop by the Retrocade Magazine web site and fill out the Retrocade Magazine Popularity Charts quick and easy survey at the bottom of the home page.

Attached are the list of games currently being tracked with room for more.

I use a CV emulator. Are you ok with that?

Hey, if you're going for high scores come and join us at the ColecoVision Hish Score Club here on AA (http://www.atariage.com/forums/forum/96-colecovision-high-score-club/)

Yeah I've even participated in a few...

The Retrocade Magazine Retroboards are an electronic scoreboard tracking scores achieved on hardware. The scores will then be published in issues of Retrocade Magazine.

Anyone that has participated in past or present AA HSCs can submit their scores provided that the games are being tracked and they follow submission guidelines.

So, in essence what an HSC player can do is play in an HSC week and then submit their score to the Retrocade Magazine Retroboards. A player can use the Retroboards to augment the HSC or even improve upon their score after an HSC deadline. Or maybe a player missed an HSC week and would like to submit a score on that title.

The mission of the Retroboards is to pick up where Electronic Games Magazine left off with their published scores.

And if the question is asked: Why don't you just publish the scores posted in the HSCs?

There are several reasons for this:

#1 Ownership of content: I perceive that scores posted in the AA HSCs are property of AtariAge and the players posting their scores.

#2 Permissions: I do not want to ask players permission to post their scores - too much overhead. When submitting scores on the Retroboards that conform to the guidelines you are permitting the score and player name to be published in the Retrocharts.

#3 Game selection: Game selection for the Retroboards is based on several factors:

  •
  • Can the score easily be rolled?
  • Is it possible to play the game on an easier skill level that will allow the player to falsify his or her scores?
  • If the game is set on the easiest level, is the game too easy?
  • Does the game end at a predetermined score?

Emulation scores are not accepted.

Totally fine. And thanks to the gentleman who gave me his CV link.

Rmaerz, I know that the time has come for me to make that leap and buy a CV (when student loans come in).

For the time being I have enough hardware to make a dent in the charts. :)

Attn: ColecoNation!

Out of all the scoreboards, the ColecoVision Retroboard is the only one that doesn't have players (besides myself)!
