youki #1 Posted July 4, 2011 This is a preview of my current developpement on Colecovision. Done in collaboration with Crapahute who did the graphism i converted to coleco. And Daniel Bienvenu who made the music and sound effect. The game is not yet completed but almost. The recording is not perfect. Cebus Capucinis #2 Posted July 4, 2011 Looks beautiful! Very great coding -- the backgrounds are amazing!
Pixelboy #3 Posted July 4, 2011 (edited) Love the graphics and the detailed animation. Not sure about the down-with-one-hit fighting system though... EDIT: Never mind, just saw the "Street Fight" mode. 2ND EDIT: I wish the physical contact of successful hits was more apparent. I mean, a guy should be thrown back a bit when he receives a foot in his face. Edited July 4, 2011 by Pixelboy
+GroovyBee #4 Posted July 4, 2011 I'm glad to see an Exploding Fist inspired homebrew game. Maybe I'll get around to a 7800 version one day.
OldSchoolRetroGamer #5 Posted July 4, 2011 Kinda reminds me of International Karate Plus on the Amiga, was that a clone of Exploding Fist?
newcoleco #6 Posted July 4, 2011 Err... I don't know which emulator you are using for these videos but the noise generator doesn't match the specs of the sound chip, notice the pitch for the "bass" notes is incorrect, like off-pitched noted if that ever makes sense to you. Anyway, hope you'll fix the lag issue that slows down the game and the music from time to time.
youki #8 Posted July 5, 2011 2ND EDIT: I wish the physical contact of successful hits was more apparent. I mean, a guy should be thrown back a bit when he receives a foot in his face. And why not in 3D with a particle system that generate blood splash ? lol... I have no more byte free... i think you can not imagine how much sprite patterns this game uses. Adding to that decors, animation, music , AI , etc... i still wonder how i was able to put so much in 32k of rom and make this game work with 1k of ram. i would never imagine that this kind of game was so difficult to do... If you look from "outside" it looks very simple. But , man it is crazy... adding to that colecovision limitation.. If i had 4k more, you would have each player in 2 or 3 colors. Err... I don't know which emulator you are using for these videos but the noise generator doesn't match the specs of the sound chip, notice the pitch for the "bass" notes is incorrect, like off-pitched noted if that ever makes sense to you. Anyway, hope you'll fix the lag issue that slows down the game and the music from time to time.. It is BlueMSX (2.8 i think), that's the only emulator i have that seems able to run my game. I have still some optimization to do. I know the cause of the lag. Still have to work on that. Graphism could still change a little bit also. Mainly Bottom of the screen. Rex Dart #16 Posted July 5, 2011 Looks great. Still waiting for the rare sequel - Way of the Exploding Colon. It already exists, it is named Street Fighter 2. Exploding colon... Wouldn't that be Mortal Kombat? Indeed; it was MK that let you inflate somebody's gut until they exploded. SF2 was limited to kicking people until they puked. Ikrananka #17 Posted July 5, 2011 Is there a two player option? I see that on the main screen there is an opponent selection option, I'm hoping that two-player is in there. My daughter loves to kick my butt on Yie-Ar Kung Fu - she'd be even happier to kill me on your game
