Do you still have your original console

Recommended Posts

Do you still have your original console or consoles, back in the day, when you were growing up . Or in recent years, when it was new, or your very first one. Do you still play it , or does it still work. I still have my original Atari 2600, when i got it in 1981 or 82. It still works, but i don't use it anymore. I play on other 2600 consoles, i picked over the years. I also still have my original Intellivision 2 , back in 83, it still works. Atari 5200 2 port back in 1984, it still works i play it here and there. Commodore 64 keyboard, back in 85. It still works and i still use it. How about you?

:P Best $10 I ever spent. The family's first one is long dead, but my first is still kicking.

My first one, a Sears Tele-Games 4 switcher sits silent, but I still have it. All I need is a donor 4-switch console to revive it, but have not come across one for cheap enough lately. Would anyone care to donate to a good cause?

Absolutely. Still have my original 6 switch Sears in box with all documentation. Still have my original Colecovision in box with all docs. Still have my original C-64 in box with all docs. Even as a kid I was anal about keeping everything in good shape and complete.

I still have the original Sears heavy sixer that I got for Christmas in 1979. Also have the original three carts I got along with it: Target Fun, Gunslinger, and Tank Plus. I *think* the original box (to the console at least) may still be at my dad's house...on the other side of the country.

I still have parts of my II+ from 1979/1980 and *ALL* my //e from 1982. These two systems have a rich history in the aerospace industry as well as the warez scene. They have been used by the most notable of crackers back then.

I also have my orange-colored-VFD Unitrex 800D calculator from 1975 also.

Unfortunately my heavy sixer s/n 305 didn't survive. I made a pull-toy out of it by drilling holes in the bottom and shoving casters from the neighbor's jalopy couch in them. When winter time came around I bolted a pizza pan on to it - off center - and wired up a bunch of flashlights. This was my "Space Command" saucer-sled. Went down many a hills with it.

When I grew up I used the shell of it for launching model rockets. That heavy RF shield box made for the perfect blast deflector. And the empty space to the sides of it was even better for filling with concrete to make it heavier for better stability.

I needed parts for some other project one time so I cut out the germanium diodes on the RIOT i/o lines, If I recall, if not they were other parts, maybe resistors or capacitors, or something. It was to help build a circuit for communications class.

Eventually we used the plastic for an acid test in chemistry and then ignited the remaining mess, what a smell!

Though I do have the original TIA IC package (AMI) series and I believe the original 6507. Those are sitting in a baggie in the basement right now, awaiting some other future experiment.

So this 2600 proved to be useful for more than playing Slot Racers or something and other games..

Yes, I still have my original 4-switch VCS and it is the one I generally use when I play. Of course, I've got several more now, of various types, but I love my original one.

I still play most of my original carts, too, especially Starmaster and Adventure.

My mom was a festidious cleaner. If she didn't think I used something for a while ... shoop! It disappeared! I had a Sears 6'er for a couple years in the early 80's, and that was apparently its fate; my parents never told me what happened to it. Don't remember if it was light or heavy. After that, I didn't have any consoles of my own until I moved out of the house.

My mother sold off the original 4-switch model that my family owned so we could get the ColecoVision with the Expansion Module #1, so no, I don't have it.

My parents still have our original Vader at their house. The kids (and me) play it sometimes when we visit.

So technically I don't still have it myself but it is still being used. I've got my own consoles now.

I think that still counts, because you still have access to it.

Yes. I still have the Tele-games 4-switch I got Christmas 1983 or 1984. I don't play it as it is at my parents's house in California. I also still have the box it came in tucked away in their garage somewhere. One of the little hook things on the switch box broke off, but I probably still have that. Down the line I would upgrade cartridges and maybe controllers, so I am not sure the joysticks and paddles are the original.

I sold my original 2600 and games and used the proceeds to buy a Colecovision, which I also no longer have. I did hang on to my Atari Age magazines though! And I still have the fond memories of playing Adventure until I saw dragons with my eyes closed.

My first A2600 was a vader. The console still works but the sticks and power supply are long gone....

sadly like others have said in here, my parents got rid of it (along with tons of star wars toys might I add)

I think a big part of the reason for me collecting and holding on to things now is because all my stuff would magically disappear when I was a kid heh.

Unfortunately, my dad sold a lot of my stuff to the local pawn shop without my knowledge. I was wise enough to get my VCS and games out of his house before he got his mitts on them.

Yes, but I didn't get my first Atari until 2009 so....

It's an Atari Jr. and I have since replaced it with a nicer L6er. The Atari Jr. doesn't really get play anymore and just sits on the same shelf with my boxed 2600 games. If I pick up a PSU for it though, I will be easily able to hook it up in another room.

I do not have my original 2600 console, sadly. I had a woody which I gave to a cousin when I left for college. I did keep some of the games I thought were the better ones on my collection since I bought a 7800 when I got to college and I was not concerned about not having a 2600 console given the backward compatibility. I still do have that same 7800 with box and all. Years later, I decided I wanted to get another 2600 so I could just use it for the 2600 games and I went ahead and got a Jr because I liked the fact the look of it fit with the 5200 and 7800 consoles. I still have that Jr and it works great. Recently I bought a 5200 for the first time, so I have that "original" console as well. :)
