SlowCoder #1 Posted July 14, 2011 Got some more faded joysticks, so decided to get a little more creative. For woody models (Mostly orange with yellow arrows): For Sears models (Mostly orange with silver arrows) (some of you have already seen this one): For Vader models: The 2nd one is actually white arrows with silver blocks, but it's hard to tell with the camera. I tried to not only go with the Atari Vader theme, but also the Star Wars Vader theme (whites, silvers and reds).

UWF97Nole #3 Posted July 14, 2011 (edited) What about one for the Man of Steel? :-) Edited July 14, 2011 by UWF97Nole
Brian O #4 Posted July 14, 2011 How about a Halo 2600 version? The bright green would look pretty good against the black. -B
Jr. Pac #5 Posted July 14, 2011 +1. I love it!
SlowCoder #6 Posted July 14, 2011 I appreciate the feedback, guys! The original thought was to keep with the theme of the consoles themselves, but it you'd like to see game themes, I may reconsider. Right now I don't have any more joysticks, though.

Here's a screenshot of the game: Here's a mock box shot of the 2600 Master Chief using lego that I created: You may be able to sample the green color from one of those. -B
+TrekMD #12 Posted July 15, 2011 Very nice! So, what will a joystick for the 2600 Jr look like?
SlowCoder #13 Posted July 15, 2011 Very nice! So, what will a joystick for the 2600 Jr look like? I don't have a Jr, but I suppose it would be a bit more rainbowed. May try it.
Brian O #14 Posted July 15, 2011 Just whipped up a couple of quick, colored mock ups for the Halo ones. Wonder if something like this would be doable (minus the logo)? -B
dwane413 #15 Posted July 15, 2011 I made this with Microsoft Paint. It's a little sloppy in places.

That looks pretty cool! But I see some problems with painting the boot in that any paint would eventually crumble due to flexing, and there would be a LOT of rubbing off from normal use. That's not to say we couldn't try it. Possibly the button could be painted/vinyled. Would have to try it and see.

I agree, just painting it wouldn't be enough. -B

jferio #20 Posted July 15, 2011 Use vinyl dye. Do a test on a CX-40 that you don't care about first. And start with white for the boot to 'bleach' it for the actual color application.
SlowCoder #21 Posted July 16, 2011 Ok. I have a junk controller that I may go ahead and try vinyl dye on. I'm finding that the process may not be the cheapest, but I'm willing to try it at least once. If I'm able, it will probably be a couple weeks before I can have any results. Money money money! Something like what Brian O showed may actually be doable. Don't know if anyone would be willing to donate some controllers to the cause for trials? Other than the one, I don't have any I can use. I wouldn't care if they were gutted, as I really only need the case, rubber boot and button.
