Bryan #5 Posted July 18, 2011 I'm going to invent an ultra-high resolution, full color display that can be installed on any wall and it will show you what is happening on the other side of the wall. I'm pretty sure I've cracked the secret to making them cheaply.

Yeah, I was thinking of calling it a "window" after the viewing pane in a typical computer operating system. But since I'd probably get sued by Microsoft, I'll call it something like Mega Wall-Boy 5000.

Bryan #9 Posted July 18, 2011 Bryan, you're infringing on cheap knock-off companies that cash in on buzzwords and take advantage of uneducated people. For example: Yeah, you'd have to be pretty stupid to have ordered 3 pairs last week with rush delivery. Ooo.. hold on, I think UPS is at the door! fibrewire #10 Posted July 18, 2011 I'm just waiting for the estatic morons that have beautiful scenery outside, yet they put this monitor in front of their window with a nature screensaver. Worse yet, in front of the aquarium with a fish screensaver. Idiocracy, here we come!
Bryan #11 Posted July 18, 2011 That's some fine acting in that HD Glasses commercial too. I hear their next product is 4G Toilet Paper!

kheffington #13 Posted July 18, 2011 I see absolutely no reason I would want a transparent LCD. Just plain worthless as far as I am concerned.
sloopy #14 Posted July 18, 2011 Yup, put a second monitor behind it, and you will have two screens in the same desk 'real estate'... cause i sure dont want to look at a wall with 4 outlets, and unfinished drywall :'/ oh and the PC PSU i used to power my LCD panel, and Atari's... sloopy. It would make a good Mike Strutter infomercial. Unfortunately, it is real, and it is played on TV, and yes people buy them... i tried a pair at a local store, they do what they say, but then so do the $10 pair i bought at a 5&10... they are just amber tint polarized sunglasses... the hype in the commercials are laughable, that isnt the only commercial, there is one with a woman who says 'wow, its just like when my husband got the HD tv at home!' sloopy. Havok69 #18 Posted July 18, 2011 But don't I get 1080p vision when I wear them? I checked all the specs, and they don't list what refresh rate my eyes will be however... fibrewire #19 Posted July 19, 2011 I see absolutely no reason I would want a transparent LCD. Just plain worthless as far as I am concerned. For personal use, this is a valid statement. However... a) For lack of a simple description, I work in a hotel. Hospitality is all about selling first impressions, so one of these monitors on a chrome stand in the lobby, at the front desk, in the spa services department are a good "WOW" first impression. b) The main reason that this monitor is attractive is the aerospace industry. Digital glass in the cockpit is expensive, and synthetic vision requires the pilot to look down. This monitor is almost perfect for a HUD replacement, except the image is not collimated. This is where the image appears to be floating in space in front of the aircraft, or when wearing a head mounted display like the VirtualBoy. A collimated HUD allows the pilot to avoid refocusing of the eyes from display to in front of the aircraft. This is also applicable to automobiles as well. Having a transparent LCD is awesome. Here is a good example of a collimated display system for a flight simulation system. http://bugeyetech.com/
sack-c0s #20 Posted July 19, 2011 given the sheer amount of speed cameras in the UK so you need to be extra careful about not getting caught out, and the popularity of satnavs a car windscreen with this on would be great (but maybe not the entire windscreen - need to be mindful of what would happen if the computer running the visuals crashes and blacks the screen out)

Justin Payne #23 Posted July 20, 2011 (edited) New Samsung transparent 22" LCD So, I defiantly see many uses for this but I don't think Samsung didn't do a good job with their display. I mean, the back of the monitor is lit by the area it's placed in so you really can't tell if the monitor needs light behind it or not. There is this display, also by Samsung, that shows it off a little better ( ).Here is where I would like to see this in use. Not only as a HUD for your car but add in a nightvision overlay and you have a product I'd buy. Now, when I drive at night, I will know if it's a possum or cat that I'm trying to run over.
