Yurkie #1 Posted July 26, 2011 (edited) I've had quite a few people mention that they needed to find a box to ship their ColecoVision to me. For customer convience i will now send a brand new 18"x16"x6" box with packing material to the customer for $9.99 or with a brand new roll of packing tape included for $14.99... tape is yours to keep. Prices are the same for anywhere in the USA. Prices allow for recouping a little of the packing material cost, depending on where the customer is located. A complete system boxed with power supply weighs about 8lbs. 4oz. and since shipping weights round up to the nearest pound the customer can just print a label on Paypal for 8lbs. 15oz. and then either drop off the box at the post office or request a carrier pick- up. Anyone wanting a box with packing material to ship their ColecoVision to me send me an PM. Comments? Edited July 26, 2011 by Yurkie
Pixelboy #2 Posted July 26, 2011 (edited) What a wonderful idea! What kind of packing material are we talking about, exactly? Edited July 26, 2011 by Pixelboy
r3tr0g4m3r #3 Posted July 26, 2011 Yurkie, I like the idea, as I am thinking about having you perform your magic on my CV soon. My concern is getting killed on shipping charges. And, I was hoping I'd just send the CV console and controllers without the PS to save weight.
Yurkie #4 Posted July 26, 2011 What a wonderful idea! What kind of packing material are we talking about, exactly? At least a 4 foot length of 2 foot wide bubble wrap, plus a foot for the power supply and then either air pockets or packing peanuts. When I sell a CV I put the comtrollers in the storage well and wrap the bubble wrap around and tape it up so that no peanuts get inside This is important when not using anti-static peanuts. I'll give instructions and help with any questions for anyone that requests a box.
NIAD #5 Posted July 26, 2011 That's a tremendous and generous idea/service to provide for people who haven't had years of experience shipping items like these. +

I looked up some prices and the difference for including the power supply Parcel is less than $2 from L.A. to Toledo. On the other hand with Priority the difference can be pretty big. Sending the power supply is not required...however... I offer free inspection of the power supply and figure it worth the extra shipping cost to know that it is working properly. And as an example. I have a customer system that arrived yesterday that the power supply is bad. Had he not included it, I would have refurbished and modded it and sent it back, the system would not have worked properly for him.

Yurkie #8 Posted July 31, 2011 I am very surprised that no one has requested a box and packing materials for shipping their system, considering all the people that have told me "I need to find a box" in the past. This box would easily cost $4 or $5 retail, and bubble wrap and peanuts are pretty expensive too. The $9.99 is for box and supplies like used in the pics below shipped anywhere in the USA ,NOT $9.99 + shipping. $14.99 and you get a brand new roll of packing tape too. Here are some pictures of a ColecoVision boxed up in a 18" X 16" X 6" box. The supplies and box offered in the first post would allow you to send your ColecoVision for service like this one I sold to a customer. 1. ColecoVision with controllers stowed in the storage area (these have straightened cords that are coiled up) The bubble wrap is about 20" wide and 4' long and goes completely around the system 2 times. Tape is wrapped around tight over controllers so they don't bang around in transit. 2. Ends are taped shut to keep peanuts out and keep system secure in transit. 3. Power supply and A/V cord wrapped in bubble wrap and taped. 4. Single layer of peanuts in bottom off box to provide even more protection for the system and power supply. Wrapped ColecoVision and power supply are set in place. 5. Peanuts filling all voids so that nothing moves when box is taped shut. 6. Box taped shut, ready for shipping. 3 strips of tape holding top and bottom of box securely closed.
