AtariLeaf #4 Posted August 1, 2011 Yea fantastic Coco collection R_R. Some great coco hardware. Damn I wish I hadn't gotten rid of my disk drives. So hard to find working and for a good price, not to mention someone who ships to Canada. For some reason, 90% of coco auctions are US only. Its the only category I look at on ebay that has that disparity.
random_rodder #5 Posted August 4, 2011 (edited) Yea fantastic Coco collection R_R. Some great coco hardware. Damn I wish I hadn't gotten rid of my disk drives. So hard to find working and for a good price, not to mention someone who ships to Canada. Thanks!!! Disk drives are a must for many of the best games. Gold Runner 2000, Sinistaar and other Sundog games all require real disk drives. The good part is that any IBM compatible drive should work with a CoCo, so if you can find a DS/DD drive in Canada, grab it. The only thing that HAS to be Tandy/Radio Shack is the FDC - unless you can find a Disto unit REALLY cheap . For some reason, 90% of coco auctions are US only. Its the only category I look at on ebay that has that disparity. Think the biggest problem here is the shipping cost. I've noticed decent CoCo auctions originating from Canada sometimes take a while to sell due to shipping costs involved. I had won FSII for the CoCo3 from a Canadian auction, and it cost $27 to ship to Florida. It could also be that people are too lazy to do the Customs declaration. I sold to ModelIII floppy drives to a guy in Canada - the C.D. was a pain... Edited August 4, 2011 by random_rodder
nathanallan #6 Posted August 4, 2011 What's that tower with a full height floppy in the top of it?? Very cool collection indeed, love the Tandy rigs!!!!
random_rodder #7 Posted August 4, 2011 What's that tower with a full height floppy in the top of it?? Which tower? Neither of the towers that show in one pic have full height floppies in them. One is a K6-500 machine and the other is an Athlon64X2 4000 machine. Very cool collection indeed, love the Tandy rigs!!!! Thank you!!!
nathanallan #8 Posted August 4, 2011 At work now, can't get to the pics for some reason, maybe a firewall here. There is a round-ish tower sitting next to a flat monitor, the top drive is a full height floppy drive. Also great way that you have it all set up and working. random_rodder #9 Posted August 4, 2011 (edited) I think you're talking about this. It's my project (very long term...) of repacking a complete CoCo3 system into a Model III case. You can see the progress at my blog in my sig. The full height floppy is just a shell. Was a busted drive I had, now I'm wiring up some of the rear CoCo ports to the face of the floppy. edited - speeliing...
