How many levels have you completed in H.E.R.O. ?

I can not seem to get beyond level 5, maybe if a few of you come back and say you have gone further I will get inspired to keep playing ! Any tips are welcome !

I've gotten to the end, with the "surprise" at a million points.

 

Basically just keep playing, you'll get used to the levels over time and they'll seem easier. The only thing I can think of is a preference of mine, and might not necessarily help YOU, but I found recently that if you have a Genesis controller it seems to work better than a joystick. But that's my preference anyway.

 

I can't really think of anything else; have fun!

I FINALLY busted the Level: PRO barrier a few months ago! I love this game SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO much. I can't quite get the million yet.

Still think this is the best game for the 2600. What a blast to play.

Reached Level 16 for the first time yesterday, with a score just a bit over 100,000.

 

H.E.R.O. is clearly one of the Top 5 games on the 2600 for me, maybe even #1.

I don't have the Atari version, just the Commodore 64 version. On that I've gotten to level 30 (which is really just level 14 because it repeats 13-20) with a score of 413,504. I had no idea there was a surprise ending! Is it on all versions of the game or just the 2600? Now I have a new goal...

On both the VCS and the CV version, I'm stuck at Level 15. I think HERO is definetely my favorite game of all time. I would love to see a GBA version with new graphics ala Metroid Fusion. No 3D stuff, just 2D like the original.

Well, I am back at it. Thanks for the encouragment, level 5 no longer seems high at all ! I agree this is a great game.

H.E.R.O. is one of my favourite games of all time. I got struck at level 10, I think. And yes, I agree this one was a great time, I played it for hours and hours.

The game speed up substantially at level 10, so there's a goal for you all. Level 14 or 15(can't remember which) brings in the "trash compactors"(moving lava walls). I thought these were the most difficult part of the game until....LEVELS 18-20. WOW! Talk about a substantial speed up in the enemies. Better have lots of extra men when you get to level 20!! After you become a "PRO"; levels 13-20 repeat until you reach the "surprise ending" Rock on dudes!!!
