gorfcadet #1 Posted July 31, 2011 So these things go for a bit since the US never got them... I just got one in an auction so I guess I'll find out how good they are. Anyone have one? How are they? If there is ever a Flashback 3 or something it would rock if they came with those or some other 7800 compatible 2 button solution. I'd buy 5 or so just for the sticks. Are the FB2's controllers actually compatible with a 78? I know I'm full of questions... Hope everyone is having a decent weekend!
Jr. Pac #2 Posted July 31, 2011 (edited) Indeed, the FB2s joysticks do in fact work on 7800 systems. And most if not all 2600/7800 controller compatible systems, ex. the Sega Genesis. Edited July 31, 2011 by Jr. Pac

Like I've previously said, you can get them fairly low cost if you search eBay internationally. Remember, our uncommon was their common. That said, for certain games, I don't care for the feel of them, but for games like Double Dragon, they're a lifesaver. I personally tend to remove the little thumbstick that comes with them, as I don't like the feel of it. Otherwise, they work great, and I'm glad I have a pair of 'em. Blitter #4 Posted August 9, 2011 (edited) I got one recently from Best Electronics. They have plenty of them. I feel the joystick is a little tall and it can be hard to go diagonally, but it's miles better than the stock US proline sticks. If proline was not standard in the US then what was the standard that came with 7800?
kroogur #7 Posted August 14, 2011 Here in 'Merica we got the "Proline" (oft called the Painlines) they are miserable to use. http://www.atariage.com/controller_page.html?SystemID=7800&ControllerID=
the.golden.ax #8 Posted August 17, 2011 Honestly, they are a hunk of junk. The way they are designed the D-pad eventually wears through the PCB. They are cheaply made, stiff, and not built to last. With the thumbstick on them they are uncomfortable. With a hole in the d-pad, they are uncomfortable. That said, they are worlds better than the pro-line joystick. What does that say about the pro-line stick? AX
Austin #9 Posted August 17, 2011 They really aren't that great, in my opinion. Like Ax said, without the stick in place, the gaping hole makes the d-pad uncomfortable. With the stick in, it's more comfortable, but is less accurate than it already is (it's not a great, accurate d-pad to begin with). The buttons are spaced far a part, but I don't really mind that--it's the poor d-pad that kills it. But yes, it's still leagues better than the Pro-Line joysticks. I still stick with a Genesis pad though for all of the one-button 7800 games.
Allpaul #10 Posted August 17, 2011 I just ordered a set off eBay.. I'm really liking them! The only complaint I have so far is they suck for Asteroids.. When I push to the right to spin my ship, it fires the rockets every time and I get killed.. They seem spot on for every other game I tried them on, though! gorfcadet #12 Posted August 17, 2011 Converted nes pads would be awesome! I am so jealous. I know someone is doing Advantages and Maxes, but I still love the stock pad best. Advantage isn't bad either though!
toiletunes #13 Posted August 17, 2011 I got my converted NES controller here: http://www.atariage.com/forums/user/18480-thegoldenax/ Price was right, and it works better than anything else I've tried.

yaniotis13 #18 Posted December 17, 2011 Is the 7800 joypad a really tight fit for anyone else? I almost pulled apart the console while trying to pull it out and it took all my strength to plug it in all the way. Does anybody else have this problem? godzillajoe #19 Posted December 21, 2011 I sawed off the mushroom part of the stick and rewired it to be on the right side. much better.
