TI Forth Instruction Manual in PDF Format (edited & expanded)

This is what Bill posted when he uploaded them.

I've re-instated them, but they're in a slightly different location. They're now in:

Documents\PDF Documents\TI 99/4A\Software\Forth

Or, just enter hacking forth into the search screen (which you'll find in the My Planet-99 menu at the top of the screen).

The documents on that site seemed to be arranged in a bizarre order; it's as if Bill started a re-organisation, but left it in-complete. I'll have to take a look at it. Of course.... if there are any volunteers...! Owen? I can give your login appropriate permissions to arrange/move/delete folders and files...

OK...Here's the finished TI Forth Instruction Manual, 2nd LES Edition at long last! Unless someone finds errors before I get a message to him, I'll get @retroclouds to post it to the development thread. A summary of enhancements is in §1.2. @Willsy, in particular, if you have a few minutes, take a look at Chapter 9 "TI Forth 9900 Assembler" to see whether I've gone off the deep end.

Morning, Lee.

Just read chapter 9 through. Very clear and easily understandable, at least to this Forther! A top job. I didn't detect any typo's or bad grammar either (not that I expected any!).

Top job!

I hereby elect you as editor-in-chief for my book when I finally get around to finishing it! :P

I'm doing FORTH programming currently. It's refreshing to review the TI FORTH manual. So many memories of 80s programming, when I would search the printed copy for knowledge. TI FORTH was my second language, after TI BASIC. Thanks for providing this.

You are most welcome.

You might also be interested in what I did after editing and publishing the TI Forth manual. I developed a file-based version of TI Forth as fbForth 1.0 that I then hoisted into cartridge space as fbForth 2.0, which gives you nearly all of the upper 24KiB of the 32KiB expansion RAM for programming. Binaries, manuals and cartridges are all available in post

#1 of this thread: fbForth—TI Forth with File-based Block I/O. Except for how blocks (screens) are loaded and saved, I tried to maintain compatibility with TI Forth.

In the system blocks file, FBLOCKS, I wrote Forth words to copy to and from TI Forth from and to fbForth. MENU will show you what is available in FBLOCKS.

A labor of love is this.

Thanks.

I still have my paper copy of the original that came with the diskettes when I bought them. :)
