SlowCoder #26 Posted August 3, 2011 @ godslabrat's last post ... that's almost the nightmare I imagine for myself when the neighbor kids come over.
godslabrat #27 Posted August 4, 2011 And lemme guess... the parents didn't offer to reconcile in a monetary way, any dough to help out with anything either. Wow. With psychic powers like that, you should be out solving crimes. Anyway, I was fortunate in that the stuff that was permanently damaged won't be super hard to replace. Not that I should have to do that, mind you, but now I have to play the ball where it lies. Moral of the story: opening your collection to your guests is a great gesture... but there's no harm in being selective about who those guests are.
cvga #28 Posted August 4, 2011 I allow my 12 year old to play any of the consoles and games. She really enjoys the older systems and is very careful with everything. My 16 year old isn't as interested in my stuff which is fine by me since I'm continually reminding him to put his xbox 360 games back in their boxes instead of leaving them out when he's not playing them. crade #29 Posted August 4, 2011 anyone who wants to can play anything in my house. If it's in a frame you need me to get it out for you. I have 1 graded comic that I won't open, so you gotta read a reprint.
Fyrman #30 Posted August 4, 2011 My kids have had pretty much free access to all my systems and games. They however tyically only play the Wii and 360. That said, those stupid discs take a beating. I recently began a "rental" program. I hold all the games and they can each have one out at a time. When they are done playing they bring it back for another. A tiny bit of trouble for me, but worth it. It the last year I have had one LCD TV destroyed by a matchbox car, 2 laptops destroyed (stepped on and juiced spilled on), two 360 games cracked, one missing gcn disc, two scratched beyond playable Wii games, and three to five missing gameboy games. It pisses me off just writing that.. They are only 4 and 6 years old, and they are learning. I hope this new "program" works.
fdurso224 #31 Posted August 4, 2011 Hi guys, Pretty much anybody! I one point in my life I didn't allow anybody from the outside play my games because I thought they were dirty! Me and my family only! Then as I got older it started to change because I started to talk to those who understood video games! So now anybody that is interested can play as long if they ask ! Anthony....
Seob #32 Posted August 5, 2011 No problem letting others play with my games, but if the thread them without respect, it will be the last time i let them play. My parents didn't have a lot of money when i was a kid, so when we bought something they made sure that we would tread it with care. If you don't have a lot of money you and have to earn you're stuff by saving money for a long time, you bet you will be careful with you''re stuff. I had a friend who's parents bought whatever he wanted, and stuff was always destroyed within weeks. I still have my first tv set, it's more then 20 years old and still in pristine condition. I teach my 3 and 1 year old to be careful with they're stuff. If they break a toy car, and it is beyond repair i let them trow it a way in a bin, so they can see, that once it's broken it can't be fixed, it can't be played anymore. Our 3 year old is now allowed to buy toys him self once in a while, to try to teach him that you have to earn money to buy things, and if things get broken, you have to spent more money on it to replace it. He how ever haven't played a computer game yet. Don't know when i allow him to play games, haven't thought about it yet.
