Tezz #9 Posted August 4, 2011 It's good to see that they are continuing to progress with it .. as Rybags says, it's in it's early stages at the moment.
Rybags #10 Posted August 4, 2011 A scrolling engine with a player that doesn't even move properly and no enemy or other objects that can be interacted with is anything but almost finished.
José Pereira #11 Posted August 4, 2011 (edited) It's good to see that they are continuing to progress with it .. as Rybags says, it's in it's early stages at the moment. I will probably not be well received for this, but who cares: 'It will never go anywhere. It's just prove of Parallax scrolling on ANTIC4 in a Narrow 32wide with: PF2-White and PF3-Black without clash Even without enter in the C64 ColourMap talking this would turn with just a five colour scrolling (just DLIs. on Top and on the Ground Floor... And what makes me just say this is simply because people just start things the wrong way, start using the 4PMs. in two Multicolour ones and just spend all of them in the protagonist, on the kid. It's exactly the same he did on Ghost'n'Goblins and it's just there, the same for Months, just a file and a scrolling YouTube video. I wonder what is in his Head now? How to get the Enemys and other stuff now? I always try to get possible ways to get things but I ask... This kind of Games need at least to use the 4PMs in single to get at least 3or4 sprites with (PM&Soft Sprite overlay) going around and if PRIOR0 works the best. Even wasting the 4PMs. 'our kid' could look more colourfull, even, at least more 'C64 like'. But I would like to see next 'our guy running' with these two Creatures trying to catch him Tezz don't forget our talk and what you were showing us about the Ghost and Pac PRIOR0 overlays ... Rybags #12 Posted August 4, 2011 C'mon Jose... and you're the guy who posts mockups as proof-of-concept and says someone could program the game easily.
emkay #13 Posted August 4, 2011 C'mon Jose... and you're the guy who posts mockups as proof-of-concept and says someone could program the game easily. If that was the goal. Those "proof of concept demos" aren't supposed to be games in the future. Remember the Dinosaur. What a promising start.... but ended like the flight of a fly on a window glass
José Pereira #14 Posted August 4, 2011 C'mon Jose... and you're the guy who posts mockups as proof-of-concept and says someone could program the game easily. I was expecting expecting some bad comments and yours isn't all that bad... But they will come I am sure! My mock-ups are to learn about concepts/ways to go. This is a scrolling with a kid above. There's no concept there as it will not be FLIMBO's this way on A8. I think all here know how Flimbo's plays but you can always go into YouTube. Don't need to be a coder, just need to see what's there, what is lost there just in the kid to have 100% sure this will never get into nothing. At least with the kid that way. Use the scroll and the Parallax and get a good soft sprite routine with the PMs. underlay and probably something near, near, not equal to C64 may come

You should motivate programmers. Give some ideas! If it use the Parallax scrolling and get the Players other way probably ... You're a coder and know what's there, so you know that the way it is now it will not get anywhere. My motivation it's already done. Motivate him to go other way, the possible A8 way to go José Pereira.

José Pereira #19 Posted August 4, 2011 probably something near, near, not equal to C64 may come Guys!! You should motivate programmers. Give some ideas! That's what I always try to do. Do my best in what I do but also try to help others. I also try, for the first time give my help to someone... And I've done that sending some ideas to someone that was the Man doing the publicity. Sending a Personal Message to him soo that he send that to the Author. Three or four Months later I am still waiting for the answer. But I also know why. Just because, for sure, there are a partner of the coder doing a part of the project that may not want me (or probably any other...) involved . Like when you answer for a Job you like to, at least receive an answer, even if it is a 'NO!' There are a 'cluster' in a part of the world that seems to be using A8 the same way they were in the late Eighties/begin of Nineties. That's why they seem to get all the prizes in Meetings they organize for their fellows citizens. That's what 'piss me' and that's what makes me answer this way but when I read some Threads at some places and some people just saying ' ' I wonder if I get a coder to scroll my screens the way I see these Things done if I will ever get a Game!... At least I am trying to get coders and first play and saw videos 'untill exausthion' and only then show my G2F screens waiting for someone code them . I think my Posts are more motivating to coders then this one. Coders here know that what it's here, the way it's here don't go anywhere, but it would not look good if they say it . Instead of saying a true it's more motivating not saying nothing . I was more motivated when I started over here people saying all that Bad things about my Last Ninja... That was what get me in what I am now. to that 'Motivating words'! José Pereira.

Tezz #22 Posted August 4, 2011 (edited) @Eagle: Reading the AOL forum thread today, there's the suggestion from others that perhaps Gonzo will only be creating this as a proof of concept and not to see it through to fruition. I hope that's only speculation regarding previous projects with this now being a project together with Luka. Edited August 4, 2011 by Tezz
