tz101 #1 Posted August 6, 2011 If I buy a PC Engine system, will it play the TG-16 HU-card games fine? Additionally, will the TG-16 play import PCE games with no mods at all? I need answers before deciding on which to buy.

sheath #3 Posted August 6, 2011 I believe they flipped the pins for the US Turbo Chips from the HuCard's arrangement. I'm not sure how the mod is done, but I have a modded DUO/R that works with a switch in the back. CDs will play on PC-Engine CDs, DUOs or Turbo CDs. Chuplayer #4 Posted August 6, 2011 (edited) I actually spent a lot of time reading up about this because I'm getting a Duo-R myself. (Premodded, so this information really doesn't do much for me, but I had already read it, so whatever.) PCE cards on a TG16 Option 1: Get a converter of some sort. They work in a similar way to an NES 60 to 72 pin converter. I have no idea how easy it is to find one these days. Option 2: Perform a hardware mod. http://www.mmmonkey.co.uk/console/pce/region.htm TG16 cards on a PCE Option 1: Get the same type of converter you would use above, but also perform the pin 29 mod outlined below. However, you might as well just perform the mod below. Option 2: Perform a hardware mod. http://www.mmmonkey.co.uk/console/pce/region.htm CDs are completely region free. They're also copy protection free, so take that for what it is. Edited August 6, 2011 by Chuplayer
Austin #5 Posted August 6, 2011 CDs will play on PC-Engine CDs, DUOs or Turbo CDs. Sort of a moot point since CDs are region-free to begin with. It's the cards that people have to worry about.

It's moot once it is common knowledge. I was just being thorough.
