The fire button in my paddle controller stopped working!

Recommended Posts

I went to play some Kaboom! today and found that the fire button on my paddle controller wasn't working. I thought the game wasn't working right (It was giving me some other problems) so I popped in my copy of super breakout. Much to my dismay it didn't work there ether. Is there anything I can do to fix it? I don't want to buy another pair if I don't have to.

I dunno, take it apart & see what's up with it. Might just need to re-solder to the switch or something. At the very worst, you could wind up having to swap the switch from the 2p paddle to the 1p paddle.

edit: I suppose a defective cable could be worse. It's possible too.

I'm sure you've already tried this but last night I had the same issue and it turned out I just hadn't squished my paddle plug deep enough into the port. Trust me, I was worried I'd have to rip my paddle open so I desperately looked online on how to fix my paddle. Then I thought of just pushing it in good and snug and it suddenly worked fine. Big relief for me I tell you.

Same thing happened to me. It just wasn't plugged in all the way.

Unless your paddles were previously repaired or modified, there's no soldering required. If you find it wasn't the plug not being tight enough, can can swap the buttons between the 2 paddles. Just unscrew the 2 screws on the back of each paddle, unplug the 2 wires going to the buttons, and swap. It's that easy.
