I´ve got email from ATARI today...

pps

Recommended Posts

Maybe I am feeling important now.

Or I am not and Atari are 'Nuts'

Do you remember the Letter I send them?

That Letter was about PPS and not me.

When I open my Mail I have their apologizes to me.

I thought and thought and then read it carefully and they were talking and translating PPS one.

What this is revolting is that they aren't writing nor reading anything. It seems that an automatic Program detects and send hundreds or thousands of Letters with the same 'building sh... blah, blah,...'

Probably this is what PPS received, or wasn't PPS and they (their automatic Program) thought I was PPS.

Here's their Letter:

"Dear Jose,

Recently Atari, Inc. sent a notice to your domain to remove certain downloadable content. Further examination has revealed that your domain's content is not of an infringing nature. Atari sincerely apologizes for disrupting your website and values the relationship it has with its fans in the 8-bit community.

Thank you,

Atari Legal"

Then they show PPS and my Post.

Why I still think that's not the case to be happy ;)

Hi, PPS, remember that I wrote to them...

They send me this answer some time ago that I posted here...

They sure thought I was you ;)

Greets.

José Pereita.

Oh, thank you. That message I missed some what.

Intresting answer. Why first shooting and then researching - demolition of a brands name is going fast doing that way imho.

Just think of lawyers like cockroaches...

Dude..

That's uncalled for and a gross generalization that shows you really don't understand their value in society..

Cockroaches provide a valuable service clearing away detritus, and it's possible that they can be used to fight disease...

Please don't compare them to lawyers..

That'd be worthy of keeping an eye on.

As stated in a recent issue of RetroGamer, Apple actually checks and remove apps that are found to violate the IP rights of others if they receive a valid complaint. So if it stays up, that would be a good indicator of Atari's random thrashing at anything loosely associated with "old Atari" properties.

Don't know if this is right...

But something like sell out soul to the devil... Call themm and have their Atari publicity/Adds in our work, in our sites,...

But on the other hand get a way that Atari also have a publicity of all us Retro guys...

We are part of the community and thay need community...

If you back earlier in this thread, The UK site used to have a playable version of Asteroids on their site. They changed it after getting caught.

These practices are hurting Atari more than helping, most people have bought Atari's current batch of offerings in the software world in part because of the active Atari retro community and their caring support of the classic Atari. The retro gaming community has always actively promoted their offering, in fact I would not have most of the Atari branded pc software and nintendo Atari branded software had it not been for someone in the retro gaming community telling me about it. Atari could advertise with and help the people who have done them the best advertising of all, word of mouth. This group of people have helped to keep the name and reputation of Atari alive, in fact without some of the careful preservation efforts no one would have an idea what the games looked like, how they played or were even about. They are in many cases the only source for base line material to re introduce or make/remake games Atari now sells/licences/brands on the newer machines. If it were not for the old machines and the homebrew/hobbiests I would not be buying what I have for the Nintendo or my Windows based machines. The old machine offering have not hurt the new offerings it has driven me to purchase the new and re introduced products on the new machines. Atari is about to lose me after and I have been with them since 1978 thru all the transitions and changes. Do they not realize what this is going to cost them? Everybody should call and complain to every Atari phone number and write to every available address about this. Fill the mailboxes digital and physical, fill the voice mail channels for every level of the company, be it marketing, sales, financial, of legal.

I have started and here is your first telephone number to get you started!

Atari New York telephone 212-726-6500

please post all addresses and numbers and get this info out to everyone, the number of people getting bullied and pushed out is growing, the only way to keep Atari from destroying itself is if the community once again steps in and straightens this out. Point them in the correct direction. This protest will be effective and needs to be spread to all the online communities. If we do nothing most retro sites will be gones and Atari itself is in financially shakey grounds. Only the lawyers appear to be making money as the company is bleading dry.

To take this thread to an end: Finally I got another email today.

Dear Ralf,

I hope this message reaches you well. We would like to apologize for the letter sent to you in August regarding some of the content on your site. We quickly realized that your site’s content was not problematic and sought to resolve the matter with you. However, another person responded to us, pasting into his message the notice which we had sent. We mistakenly sent our apology to him and we believed the situation was resolved. But recently we learned that our apology may not have ever reached you. Again, we apologize for the confusion and miscommunication.

Thank you very much for your continued interest in Atari.

Sincerely,

Jeff Stewart

Seems, that my email never reached or has been taken into English.

But now it´s clear, that programming for our little machine and giving it to the public still stays legal. I´m happy for that. Thank you all for the help and support - now let´s go back to your 8Bit desk and start coding again ;)

Mod please close this thread.
