Pioneer4x4 #1 Posted August 11, 2011 This morning I went through all my 2600 carts, mainly to add in the recently acquired stuff, with the intention of sorting out all the pure dupes from major label variations. To me a major variation is if I would show it to my wife and say "are these different", she would say yes. Examples, are Picture/text (obviously) text with number, different color (yellow vs red, NOT pale red vs dark pink). And when looking at my imagic carts, I found an Atlantis different from the other 5 that I have. So I hurried back to the basement to look up Atlantis on AA, and found that it is NOT Atlantis II, just a different scene. It was odd that I never noticed it, especially it looks like someone had trouble opening it in the past. The screws are visible, and the very end of the handle is cut off. Now I need to find that dang list of ROM variants to see if I have any of them.
SlowCoder #2 Posted August 11, 2011 Why would someone have cut off the end of the cart?
Pioneer4x4 #3 Posted August 11, 2011 Another find that made me chuckle. I was going through the manuals looking for non-dupes (ones I thought were dupes, but actually different numbers), and found some funny drawing on 2 "Super Breakout" manuals. On the front of one someone added "Duper" as in "Super Duper Breakout"! I can hear some lippy kid saying like it was 1981... And on the back of another Super Breakout was a drawing, looks kinda like Spock to me.
Chris Leach #4 Posted August 11, 2011 I seen peeps cutting the ends of cartridges, cause the atari console would sit underneath a wood shelf typically made for an old radio unit and the cart would not fit in properly cause you would have to pull the system out to put the cart in and then put the system back in place and it would fit?
