If you had a choice for a Fantasy Zone for the NES which one would you prefer the TENGEN version or the Famicom's SUNSOFT version, granted that the SUNSOFT version never made it to the US along with its sequel, which one would you prefer?

Or do you just play Fantasy Zone in another System?

Seeing as how I only have the Tengen version since I'm in the US, I'd choose that, but I think I only played it once, just to see if it worked. I have a complete collection of black Tengen NES carts.

I'm not aware of the/any differences between the Sunsoft & Tengen versions. I'd be playing it on a Sega system anyways.

There were a few. Sunsoft's sprites and colors are a lot nicer and easier on the eyes (even the stage 4 boss swings its tentacles more closely to its arcade counterpart). Tengen was a bit easier, as you always got high-value coins and bosses dropped BAGS of money worth a lot. I think in both versions, the Heavy Bombs are quite overpowered.

Seeing as I hate tengen carts I tried fitting a TENGEN chip inside a Standard Nes Cart (yes I failed miserably) so I had a reproduction of the sunsoft version done

The heavy bombs are even overpowered in the arcade version, though.

Last I checked, both versions have videos on you tube, though one person listed the Famicom version as "NES", despite the differences between versions.

The FC version has 8 big enemies instead of six like the NES, better music, and smoother scrolling, as well as the differences mentioned previously. The odd thing is that Sunsoft programmed the JP version themselves, but the JP Fantasy Zone II FC was done by Sanritsu, despite being published by Sunsoft. Sunsoft also programmed the awesome Mega Drive Super Fantasy Zone.

True, Brian, but they were nowhere near as powerful in the arcade as the Nintendo (or even SMS) ports. Many of the end-bosses are taken out in a single bomb with the home versions (TAS videos of them show how easy it is, especially the Tengen port). It's just sick.
