Melissa Melville #1 Posted August 26, 2011 (edited) I had an opportunity to drive to RI and hang out with an old Amusement operator. I was hoping to score some sweet uprights, but ended up just talking shop. I didn't leave empty handed however, this lil beauty caught my eye and the man told me, "just get it out of here." I am in the middle of building a test station and may use the guy for my monitor. He may go and live at our mini mac museum at work. Since I struck out on the uprights and I had some cash in hand I decided to go on an adventure of the console buying sorts. I drove all over RI and MA and saw some pretty cool things, but nothing that really blew me away. I did find a new favorite console shop where I picked up some Japanese imports for my Dreamcast. I will tell you more about it another day. There are a few more TG-16 games I need to purchase from there before I open the floodgates. I also stumbled across this relic at one of the creepiest arcade/coin stores I have ever been to. The guy wanted $75 for it and few various Atari controllers and a pile of 2600 and 7800 carts so I passed. It looked like he had the PS, but the RF and keyboard were nowhere to be found. Lendorien #4 Posted August 31, 2011 HM. That apple monitor brings back memories. In 2001, I helped refurbish about 30 Apple II's to be used in an African School. Didn't take much work to fix them up as Apples IIs weren't that fancy of machines. Just a matter of canibalizing some units to make full complete working ones. Couple had that style monitor, though most had the big color screens. Brings me back a bit.

Shame there's no computer with it.
Melissa Melville #6 Posted August 31, 2011 I know either the Apple II or III were RGB compatible. I need to do some more digging. I am hoping I can use this one for a test bench.

Tempest #8 Posted September 1, 2011 Wasn't uncommon where I grew up to see a monitor /// used on an Apple //e. Yeah I saw that all the time too. Either monitor ///'s were cheap or they just had a ton left over after the Apple /// tanked. I know either the Apple II or III were RGB compatible. I need to do some more digging. I am hoping I can use this one for a test bench. The Apple II was not natively RGB compatible, but you could buy a card and RGB monitor. I have both and it works great except for Double Hi-Res games where they either look garbled or play in monochrome. Tempest
Hatta #9 Posted September 1, 2011 The IIgs does RGB natively.
Tempest #10 Posted September 1, 2011 The IIgs does RGB natively. Yes analog RGB at 15Khz. Similar to the Amiga and ST. Tempest
Lendorien #11 Posted September 5, 2011 I'm pretty sure that the ones I worked on were Apple 3 monitors used on Apple 2 business machines. Brought back loads of memories when I saw that photo.
