Goochman
By "new version" you mean the additional quest after beating the game, right? Correct - I found my old emails with Sven, he uses alot of Cryptograms in the additional quest as puzzles.
Asaki
Beat it. Tried moving onto the SMS port of IV, but all the bright colors don't feel very Ultima. And the music gets grating awfully quick =) Maybe I'll have to skip playing this one portably and just pull out the laptop.

Asaki
Just the original. I might come back to the new quest later if I can ever get through the rest of the series.

Actually, I completely forgot about the DOS emulator for the DS. Though the tiny touchscreen keyboard isn't exactly a joy to type with. cimerians
Me too. It looks like a poster under the paper map but I'm not sure. Was really surprised to see this!
cimerians
Ultima 8 is out on GOG.com I was wondering if I should get it for $5.99 and never again have to worry about trying to get it running with DOSBOX. Its one of the few Ultima's I have never finished. Edited April 25, 2012 by cimerians
Arkhan
I just use the patches at reconstruction.voyd.net and, the game blows. You aren't missing anything by not finishing it. Hell, OSI didn't even finish it. It's missing parts. You can patch them in. I think R.V.N has them. It was a great idea on paper, but a terrible, goony ass game. It's the platform jumping that kills it. Its a fun game up until the point where you're getting hosed by the dodgy jumping. Also, the Avatar looks like some Monty Python disaster. I didn't like that. You can never remove the helmet if I recall.
Goochman
Origin released a patch to fix the death by bad jump issue - it made the usability alot better so I presume the GoG release would have that version.
Arkhan
The only way to truly fix the bad jumping is to have never put jumping into an Ultima game.
Asaki
I've got the pre-patched version of the game and never had any real issues with the jumping. ...there were a couple other bugs I had issues with, though... ¬_¬ But on the whole, I liked the game a lot.
