Colecovision Auction Watch

I don't know who it is. Although I would venture to guess he's from around these parts, doing this in stealth mode. I mean, the description is very accurate—no fibbing here—but it's certainly a gouging to those who aren't in-the-know about the next SGM run!

I don't fault anyone for trying to make a buck, but it's a little dishonest when there is a retail batch being produced for around $100.00.

Does anyone know what's a fair price for a boxed Logic levels?

It seems kinda up and down with the fisher price games because people want them to complete their collections but nobody really wants them to play them.

I have seen them go for as high as $200 and I have seen them go for as low as $100

Just a curiosity, two DIFFERENT Q*bert Qubes for Colecovision (unknown variety or simply Atari version?):

http://rover.ebay.co...8890%26_rdc%3D1

http://rover.ebay.co...7583%26_rdc%3D1

In fact I'm banging my head against wall because I got the cartridge with manual in around $70 :P, just for not waiting a month more :).

Don't bang your head against the wall too hard. The cheap one is Atari cart and the other one doesn't have a manual and the manual for that game could easily be worth 15 - 20 bucks.

- Coleco NY

- Coleco Canada Billingual Version

- Coleco Canada English only Version Rarer!

Thanks alot, Jim !

This is an old posting but I just had a look both my Illusions and one is cartridge made in USA, cart label printed USA, Box printed USA and the other one is cart made in Canada, cart label printed in USA (with a black and white loose French label printed in Canada) and box printed in Canada in two languages.

Is there indeed a confirmed Canadian-made English only box? I have my;doubts.

Ok, why do bidders do the $5 increment bid thing? This was just listed a few hours ago and I'm pretty sure someone we know has the high on it presently. The second bidder came in and jacked it up with another 21 bids! I've seen this bidder before I'm pretty sure. I don't like the private status either. I never trust someone using that.

I view someone who does that as a possible plant because they are just trying to barely get above you to make sure the person gets their money.

That is why you are always better off just throwing up a tiny bid to make sure nobody can do backroom bidding and take the item off ebay and then at the very last second you put your bid in so that you pay the least amount possible instead of people driving you up in price.

That is an insance price for CPK: Picture Show... even if it was sealed. At best it's a $40 CIB, but this one's box isn't even in good enough condition to consider $40.

I guess when you gotta have it, you gotta have it at whatever price. Congrats to the seller and I hope the winning bidding pays up.

Maybe the winning bidder mistook this for the unreleased/proto CPK: Workout.

Glad I have this one already and it's all scanned up. BTW, it is the sister Press Kit to the 1983 ColecoVision Press Kit as Coleco made two. This one up for auction deals only with the Coleco TableTops as well as 2600 and Inty games, but it's missing at least one flyer (the 2600 Smurfette's Birthday Flyer) which is a common occurence with this kit and it may be missing some other flyers. I would need to verify, but don't have mine handy right now.

Well, I ended up checking my scans and indeed it is missing more flyers as follows:

- Gemini Game System

- Gemini Sound I Voice Module

- Intellivision Looping

- Atari Smurfette's Birthday

Here is a picture of mine...

You know, I was thinking about this the other day (meaning these sales promo sheet kits). Is it possible that kits were not always given out complete by Coleco. Maybe Coleco would put them together for particular vendors based on what the vendors wanted to sell. The reason I say that is because the promo kit that I got only had one folder (which wasn't the one listed above), and my folder had the table top games flyers and Gemini flyers in it, but it didn't have any of the atari game flyers in it (and only some of the INTV game flyers). And of course it had the ColecoVision flyers.

When an auction for these promo flyers tends to come up on ebay, they tend not to be "complete" as we are defining complete. It seems odd that some of the flyers would survive in really good or great condition and the others be totally missing? That is what leads me to believe that these promo kits were not always given out as complete collections.

I've been to a couple trade shows before (not video game related) and the companies pushing their stuff don't always give you every flyer they have they have sitting on the counter. They tend to talk to you about what your business sells and grab what they feel is the appropriate flyers of stuff that they think pertain to you and your business. It just seems logical that a company like Coleco would have done the same thing. At least that's my two cents.

Your theory is very possible PBoland and it could be a simple matter of the people (original person or later owners) that obtained all these kits simply mixed the contents up inadvertently or knowingly. It's also possible that individual flyers were removed and sold separate of the original kit. I would say the 2600 flyer for Smurfette's Birthday would be a good example of an individual sale especially since I know of only one that exists even after seeing a number of this particular kit become available.

Of course my kit is missing this 2600 S.B. flyer, but thankfully a scan is available online to complete my digital collection of it.
